Lady Wilson felt a surge of happiness when Kenneth agreed to lend a helping hand to the Wilson family.

However, Wendy was far from pleased.

Her mind was nowhere near the Wilson Group.

In reality, she held no interest in the Wilson Group whatsoever.

All that truly mattered to her was marrying a wealthy young man, someone who would make her the envy of others and elevate her status!

Besides, the Wilson Group was merely one of the many assets owned by the Wilson family. Why should it concern her?

The most disheartening aspect for Wendy was Gerald’s apparent indifference towards her, which left her feeling uncertain about her future.

Wendy had no concern for the fate of the Wilson Group!

Noticing her daughter’s lack of interest, Lady Wilson quickly nudged her and said, “Wendy, why are you lost in thought? You need to thank Chairman Wilson!”

Wendy was taken aback, glancing up as she replied, “Why on earth should I thank him?”

Lady Wilson’s anger flared at this response. “Of course you should! Chairman Wilson is going out of his way to assist the Wilson Group! Are you really that clueless?!”

In response, Wendy blurted out, “I only care about Gerald! I couldn’t care less about the Wilson Group!”

“You foolish girl!” Lady Wilson was so enraged that she raised her hand and slapped Wendy across the face.

With her voice raised, Lady Wilson exclaimed, “I’m already stressed about the future of our family and the Wilson Group, and all you can think about is Gerald from the White family?! You’re driving me crazy! Why can’t you help lighten my load instead? You are utterly useless!”

Wendy was taken aback, shocked that her grandmother would hit her without reason. After a moment, she cried out, “You’ve lost it! Why did you hit me?! What does the Wilson Group have to do with me? I don’t even work for them! If you’re going to hit someone, why not take it out on that B*tch, Claire?”

Lady Wilson was left speechless.

She never imagined Wendy would dare to defy her.

Just as she was about to retaliate, Wendy turned and bolted out of the house.

This was quite a turn of events…

Embarrassed, Lady Wilson shouted at Christopher, “Go after her and bring her back!”

“Alright…” Christopher nodded, looking somewhat awkward. “I’ll go after her right away.”

Feeling humiliated, Lady Wilson turned to Kenneth and said, “Chairman Wilson, I sincerely apologize for what you just witnessed. I’m truly embarrassed. You must think we’re a complete joke.”

Kenneth did feel a bit uncomfortable, but he managed a smile and said, “I believe Miss Wendy has been triggered by something. What exactly happened?”

“Well…” Lady Wilson sighed heavily before explaining, “It’s a long story, and it all stems from having a despicable son-in-law in the Wilson family!”

She then confided in Kenneth about how Charlie had caused Claire and Jacob to sever ties with the Wilson family. Lady Wilson placed the blame on Charlie for the decline of the Wilson Group’s former glory and even claimed he was responsible for ruining Wendy’s marriage prospects with the White family.

However, Lady Wilson’s account was not entirely truthful.

The story she told Kenneth was riddled with exaggerations and lies, as she shifted all the blame onto Charlie and Jacob’s family, claiming they had betrayed the Wilson family and forced her to kneel and beg.

Kenneth felt a twinge of discomfort upon hearing her words and could only sigh, “Wow. It’s hard to believe there are such unscrupulous children and grandchildren in this day and age!”

Lady Wilson wiped her tears and looked at Kenneth with pleading eyes, saying, “Chairman Wilson, as the chair of Modestway Group, if you could assist us, the Wilson family would surely be able to make a strong comeback…”
