Jason had always held a keen interest in Claire, and while he was aware of Charlie’s presence, he had never encountered him in person until now.

Upon realizing that the man before him was Claire’s husband, Jason looked at Charlie and feigned curiosity, asking, “So, what are you up to these days, Charlie?”

Charlie replied simply, “I’m a vagrant now.”

As soon as Jason heard this, a flicker of disdain crossed his eyes. In truth, he had always admired Claire, especially during her time at the Wilson Group. He had intentionally reached out to her after learning she started her own business. In fact, it was Jason who had placed the order for the refurbishment of the convention and exhibition center, specifically to invite Claire to this event today.

Feeling the need to assert his status in front of Charlie, Jason looked at him and smiled, saying, “Charlie, I don’t think it’s wise for you to be here today. The attendees at the auto show are all prominent and wealthy individuals from Aurous Hill. Aren’t you concerned about embarrassing Claire by showing up?”

Claire’s expression shifted immediately upon hearing Jason’s remarks, as she hadn’t anticipated him mocking Charlie. She began to feel uneasy.

Before Claire could respond, Charlie’s demeanor turned icy. He replied coolly, “Do you really think this auto show is that impressive? I wouldn’t even be here if it weren’t for my car.”

“Your car? Do you even know your place?” Jessica interjected, glaring at Charlie with disdain. “Don’t you realize that every luxury vehicle here is valued at several million dollars? I doubt you could even afford a single wheel of any of them!”

Jason chuckled haughtily and said, “Charlie, I recognize people like you. You’re just a typical live-in son-in-law, relying on your wife and her family. Are you hoping Claire will buy you a car to boost your ego?”

At that moment, Claire interjected with a stern expression, “Mr. Grant, Charlie doesn’t need me to buy him a car. In fact, he’s the one who purchased the car I’m currently driving.”

Jason was taken aback, surprised that Charlie could afford a car for Claire.

Jessica continued to look at Charlie with skepticism, sneering, “Are you really sure you could buy Claire a car?” She then turned to Claire and asked, “Claire, what kind of car did your husband buy for you? Is it a Cherry QQ?”

Claire promptly replied, “Charlie bought two cars for our family: a BMW 520 for me and a BMW 530 for my father.”

Jessica appeared slightly taken aback. “I honestly didn’t expect your husband to be able to buy you a car.”

Meanwhile, Jason shook his head with a condescending smile. “A BMW 520? That’s what the servants in my house drive. How could that be suitable for someone like Claire?”

He then turned to Charlie and remarked, “A BMW 520 is a relatively inexpensive car. You only need to put down a hundred thousand dollars and can finance the rest. However, the luxury cars here are worth millions. If you can only afford a 5 Series, you really shouldn’t be at this auto show. You should check out those two lavish sports cars on display, so you understand your standing.”

Charlie smiled nonchalantly and gestured towards the two luxury cars perched on the highest platform in the exhibition hall. He asked, “You mentioned I wouldn’t be able to afford any luxury cars here. Let me ask you this: can you afford those two cars?”

Jason scoffed, “I can buy any luxury car at this auto show, except for those two. How about you? Even if you wanted any of the luxury cars here, I’m sure you wouldn’t be able to afford even one!”
