Chapter 893

Judy’s POV

“Judy, sweetheart. I’m so glad you are here. I’ve missed you so much,” my mother says as she wraps me in her arms. Tears were pricking her eyes when she pulled back to look at me, and then my chest tightened with guilt.

I hadn’t seen my parents in the last couple of weeks. Things have been so hectic, and I hadn’t been sure how to talk to them. With everything that I’ve found out about myself… about my real family…how could I break it to them that I’m in contact with my birth family?

I didn’t want to hurt their feelings.

“I made up the guest bedrooms,” my mother told me, greeting Irene and Matt with a hug each. I loved how my family and Gavin’s family got along so well. My mother treated them like they were her grandchildren, and it warmed my heart to see their faces light up.

It was rare lately for Irene to smile since the whole Chuck thing, but when she saw my parents, she had a big smile on her face, then hugged them, which made me smile.

“Thank you for your hospitality, Michelle,” Gavin said, giving my mother a side hug. “My family and I are grateful to you.”

“Of course,” my mother said, smiling up at him. “Judy is my daughter, and anyone she has in her life is family to me. I was worried when Beta Taylor reached out and told us that you ended up staying here for a few days. He wouldn’t get into specifics about any of it. Something about a protest happening at the Villa.” 1

“Is there something we need to know about?” My father asked, his bushy brows furrowed as he stared at my

mate.

“There’s a lot you need to know,” Gavin told him, his tone becoming formal as he addressed my father. “I apologize for not keeping you in the loop sooner. My mate wanted to tell you what was happening herself, and I’m here to support her in that.”

My father looked at me, his brows raised.

“Judy?” He asked, and I knew exactly what he was asking; he wanted to know what was going on in my life, and I needed to come clean and tell him the truth.

I turned to Gavin, and though I was nervous, I said, “I need to talk to them alone.”

Gavin raised his brows.

“Are you sure?” He asked.

I nodded, nibbling on my lower lip.

“Is everything okay?” My mother asked, suddenly sounding extremely worried. “You have me scared, sweetie.”

I turned to her, tears glistening in my eyes.

“Everything will be fine. But it’s something I need to tell you, and I hope you won’t react badly,” I told her.

Her face paled.

“Is it the baby?” She asked, her voice going hoarse. “Did something happen?”

I shook my head quickly, realizing how this must sound.

“No! The baby is fine. I promise,” I assured her, watching her body relax.

I turned to Gavin and peeked up at him; he was watching me curiously, and I didn’t even have to say any words.

He smiled at me and then leaned down to brush his lips across mine.

“Gross,” Matt said, crinkling his nose and making me laugh against Gavin’s lips.

Gavin pulled away and then turned to his kids.

“Okay, guys. Let’s get settled upstairs,” he told them, guiding them away.

I turned to my parents, who were watching me warily, before my mother took hold of my arm gently.

“How about we sit in the living room?” She suggested.

I nodded and went with them to the living room. I sat on the couch, with my mother on one side of me and my father on the other.

“So, what’s going on, Judy Bear?” My father asked, turning to look at me; my mother did the same, both their eyes piercing my side.

I took a deep breath before speaking; this wasn’t going to be easy, but I needed them to know the truth.

“I found my birth family,” I said, pausing for a moment for them to gather what I had just said.

My mother tensed beside me, but my father made no movements. He just continued to look at me, both of them remaining silent as they waited for me to continue speaking.

“I’ve been curious about them for a long time… and I found them. Actually, I found out more than I was hoping to. That woman you told me about… Meg… she’s not my real mom.”

“Judy-“my mom started to say, but my father gave her a look that made my insides twist, and it silenced her. She pressed her lips together and stared down at her hands, waiting for me… or someone… to continue speaking.
