Chapter 862
Jessica realized she was being unreasonable. What she was saying was pure nonsense.
She was simply angry.
In the past, Hank would often mention that he lost his appetite whenever he saw how overweight Liberty was.
After their divorce, Hank continued to seek out Liberty, who in turn kept shedding pounds. She lost several tens of pounds in just two months, but compared to a supermodel, Liberty was still considered a larger woman.
However, to an everyday person, Liberty merely appeared slightly chubby.
Jessica suspected that Hank was pursuing Liberty because she had slimmed down and looked significantly better than she had at the time of their divorce.
Liberty approached them.
Upon seeing her, Jessica glared at Liberty with resentment and rage, shouting fiercely, “Liberty, I’m not intimidated just because you have a wealthy aunt, and I’m certainly not afraid that your brother-in-law is Mr. York. I’ll make your life miserable if you dare try to seduce my husband!”
Liberty found this amusing and replied, “Ms. Yates, are you feeling insecure because you took someone else’s husband? Do you constantly worry that someone will steal yours away too?”
“Maybe someone with poor judgment like us will develop feelings for Hank and learn to be a mistress from you, but that person will never be me. I’m a clean freak when it comes to relationships. If a man I’ve discarded ends up with someone else, I’ll see him as tainted. I will never want him back.”
“That said, I genuinely appreciate you taking Hank off my hands. Thanks to you, I was able to divorce smoothly and secure the assets I desired. To show my gratitude, I promise that even if Hank regrets his decision later and wants to remarry me, I will never give him that opportunity.”
Jessica replied bitterly, “Hank will never regret it. He loves me the most.”
“If he truly loves you that much, what are you still worried about?”
That certainly left Jessica puzzled.
Hank loved her, but after living together and getting married, she gradually came to the realization that marriage extended beyond just the two of them. It involved two families that were otherwise unrelated.
Hank learned to cook for her. When her mother-in-law reprimanded her, he would defend her and stand by her side. However, he still occasionally assisted his mother.
He couldn’t completely spoil her, nor could he be as submissive to her as he was during their secret dating period.
Back then, every gift he gave her was extravagant. Even the least expensive earrings cost several thousand dollars.
Now, his gifts consisted of nothing more than a bouquet of flowers. Her wedding band was a gold ring, but it weighed only ten grams and cost just a few thousand dollars. It was incomparable to the affection he had shown before their marriage.
Did he think she was less valuable now that he had finally won her over?
“Why did Hank come looking for you earlier? What were you two doing while hiding in the building?”
At that moment, Liberty realized that Jessica must have followed Hank.
Liberty had wondered how happily this couple could live in the future. Surprisingly, they had already lost their trust so soon after obtaining their marriage license.
“Hank came to see Sonny and shared some information with me. I assume you know what he told me since you’re his secretary. He can’t hide who he meets from you.”
“Is that all?”
In truth, Jessica had already figured out the main reason Hank visited Liberty. She was simply upset; she disliked that they continued to meet frequently after the divorce.
Liberty had blocked Hank’s number, but Olivia secretly followed her and discovered where she lived. Now that Hank also knew, blocking his number had no effect on him. If he could…
Instead of calling her, he could go directly to her. This infuriated Jessica even more.
