Chapter 856
Zachary pursed his lips for a moment before saying, “She needs some time to calm down, so don’t disturb her for now. Please hold off on visiting.”
Grandma May hummed in agreement. “Zack, I’m pleased you allowed her to return with her sister. You’ve made progress. You’re not as controlling as you used to be, and you didn’t force her to stay. It’s commendable that you’ve learned the importance of giving each other space.”
Zachary’s expression remained gloomy.
“I plan to see Seren in a couple of days, but not to beg for you. I also owe her an apology since I was dishonest with her initially.”
Zachary scoffed coldly.
The grandmother and grandson shared a similar demeanor.
“What do you intend to do next?”
“What do you think I should do?” Zachary shot back.
Grandma May smiled, reaching out to affectionately touch her eldest grandson’s handsome face before playfully poking him in the head. “You have a brain, so think for yourself. Take your time to figure things out.”
“Loving someone isn’t as easy as simply falling in love. You must learn to understand her, trust her, and accept everything about her.”
“Your mother has often said that your grandfather and I taught you everything except how to love. It was something we overlooked. By the time we recognized it, you were already an adult… Did you know? Your grandfather was still worried about you before he passed.”
“He was concerned about your future marriage. You have a naturally cold demeanor. As a teenager, you had countless girls who adored you, but you didn’t pay them any attention. Once you grew up, you surrounded yourself with bodyguards, not allowing any young women outside the family to come within ten feet of you.”
“Your grandfather noticed this and grew worried, but he was too ill to address it. Before he died, he could only entrust me with his concerns.”
to worry in his place.
“Actually, I have a superstitious side. After meeting Serenity, I asked for her birthday and secretly consulted a fortune-teller. He told me that you two are destined to be husband and wife, so I decided you should marry Serenity, regardless of what anyone else thought.”
Zachary was left speechless.
Who was this fortune-teller?
Well, he was quite accurate.
“That fortune-teller was correct. You both ended up developing feelings for each other. Although there have been some twists and turns, I believe you can work through this. A little suffering now will make the rest of your lives that much sweeter.”
Zachary tensed up and remained silent.
He already missed Serenity.
After just a few hours apart, he was eager to go to his sister-in-law’s house to pick Serenity up.
Unfortunately, he knew he couldn’t.
He had to endure it. Serenity could stay with her sister for a few days.
If she didn’t reach out to him first, he couldn’t contact her. Even if he went to see her, he would have to do so in secret and observe her from a distance.
But what if she never contacted him again? Would he just stay away?
He couldn’t do that. He had to see her tomorrow… no, later today.
What if she forgot about him?
“Zack, everything is achievable with sincerity. Serenity can be a bit hard-hearted, but her heart isn’t made of stone. I believe you can win her back.”
