Remy shifted the conversation and remarked, “Mr. York, it’s uncommon for you to visit Annenburg. Why don’t I give you a tour?”
Zachary had long admired the scenic beauty of FC Manor. While the old York residence was equally impressive, he accepted Remy’s offer.
“Sure, Mr. Johnson.”
Remy beamed. “Since you’ve come all the way to Annenburg, I want to be the best host I can be. If you’re not in a rush to head back, I’ll show you around for the next few days so you can enjoy the views of Annenburg. Personally, I think the attractions here are far superior to those in Wiltspoon.”
Wiltspoon lacked any particularly famous landmarks, while Annenburg was considered the most enchanting city in the province.
After a brief pause, Zachary replied, “I’ll be heading back soon for the holidays. I plan to take a few days off to spend time with my family’s elders.”
The Johnsons reminded him of his own family—a close-knit group where brothers and uncles got along without any power struggles.
In the past, Ben had brought his beloved wife back to Meadspring and entrusted FC & Co. to his third and fourth brothers. They managed for a time, but the pressure became overwhelming, and they begged Ben to return.
Once the business with the Lafayettes in Meadspring was settled, Ben came back with his wife, and the two brothers quickly relinquished control of the company, as if it were a hot potato.
Hearing this made Zachary realize that a similar situation could occur in the York family.
He understood all too well the burden that Ben had to bear; it was as if Ben were a second Zachary.
Remy smiled again. “You’re absolutely right. We often get caught up in work and have little time for family. Make the most of the holidays to unwind and cherish some quality moments with your elders.”
at home.” Remy led Zachary out of the house and took a stroll around the manor. The two chatted casually, with Remy doing most of the talking while Zachary listened. “Mr. York, are you feeling troubled?” When Zachary didn’t respond, Remy continued, “Mr. York, our companies are collaborating, and we can be considered friends. If you trust me, feel free to express your thoughts. Perhaps I could assist you.”
