Married at First Sight Chapter 713

Chapter 713
“My company’s annual dinner is coming up in a few days. I’ll get you an invitation, and you’ll need a gown for the event. I can pick you up, or you can drive yourself.”
“Why would I attend your company’s annual dinner? I’m not an employee.”
Serenity wasn’t particularly enthusiastic about social events.
The only reason she would consider going was for the food.
However, as Jasmine pointed out, if Serenity attended as Zachary’s plus-one, she would have to moderate her eating.
Serenity would much prefer exploring new restaurants with Jasmine.
“We can bring a family member to the annual dinner. Others will bring theirs, so why shouldn’t I?”
Serenity was left speechless as she looked at Zachary.
“I’ll be helping out a bit during the dinner. If you want me to pick you up, it might be a little later. I’ll come straight after I’m finished.”
“Alright, just let me know on the day. I’ll head over myself, so you don’t have to rush back. You can come out to meet me when I arrive at your office; I can’t walk into the event looking like a deer in headlights.”
Zachary felt relieved and replied, “Of course. Ms. Stone will likely be there too. Mr. Bucham doesn’t have a girlfriend, but he’s interested in Ms. Sox, so he might invite her as his plus-one.”
In previous years, Zachary would typically give a speech at the company’s annual dinner and leave soon after.
Employees couldn’t relax and enjoy themselves while he was present.
Meanwhile, Josh, the life of the party, would socialize with everyone until the event concluded.
Many female employees would try to partner with Josh for the annual dinner, hoping he would notice their charm and fall for them.
Although Josh was friendlier, more talkative, and easier to connect with compared to…

Zachary did not appreciate being pursued by a group of eager female employees. To counter this, Josh decided to invite a young woman from his family as his plus-one for the company’s annual dinner, hoping to deter the enthusiastic attention from the female staff. With Jasmine now in the picture, it was likely that Josh would ask her to accompany him. Serenity thought about sharing her opinion that Jasmine might decline Josh’s invitation but chose to hold her tongue. After all, she was not Jasmine and could not make that decision for her.

After breakfast, Zachary drove Serenity back to Brynfield before heading to work. Once home, Serenity asked Mrs. Lane to get ready because they were going to visit Liberty. Unfortunately, Liberty was not there; she had gone to the shop early in the morning. Serenity then drove to her sister’s shop. Renovations had not yet begun, as most workers were off for the holidays. Liberty had purchased the necessary materials, so there was no immediate reason for her to be at the shop. However, she couldn’t remain idle and needed to keep herself busy, as time passed more quickly when she was engaged in activities.

At the shop, Liberty occupied herself at the table while Sonny dashed around. A heavy glass door had been installed at the entrance, making it difficult for Sonny to push it open, which allowed him to play safely inside. “Mom! Mom!” he called out. Happy and absorbed in his play, Sonny dropped his toy in alarm when he spotted Duncan approaching. He quickly turned and ran to Liberty, clearly frightened.

“Why are you so afraid of me, Sonny?” Duncan asked, holding a pinwheel he had brought as a gift for him. It felt awkward for Duncan to frighten the little boy to the point of tears.

Is that scar on his face frightening?

“What brings you here, Mr. Lewis?” Liberty asked with a smile while picking up Sonny.

“I pass by this place every day. I always see your shop open, so I thought I would come in for a look.”
