Zachary couldn’t hide the embarrassment on his handsome face when he got a good look at the item.
Clive teased Zachary mercilessly. In response, Zachary rushed to the convenience store and cleared the shelves. He didn’t even check what he grabbed, so he was unaware that sanitary pads were among the items.
“You have a wife,” Clive pointed out.
Zachary flung the pack of sanitary pads back at Clive.
Clive erupted in laughter.
Clive laughed so hard that Zachary felt an urge to pounce on him and strangle him!
Throughout all their years of rivalry, Zachary had never felt so awkward in front of Clive.
Clive continued to laugh uncontrollably for a long time. Rubbing his belly, he said, “Zachary, are you trying to make me laugh myself to death so you can inherit my family’s fortune? You’re killing me!”
“You better write a will to pass your inheritance to me before you die laughing,” Zachary retorted.
Clive’s laughter gradually softened into a chuckle. “You probably won’t care much about my fortune. I’m not as wealthy as you.”
“Well, better than nothing. Besides, your personal assets alone are worth several billion. I wouldn’t mind taking over your fortune at all.”
Clive quickly got up and walked away, trying to contain his laughter. He went to brew Zachary a strong pot of tea.
He returned to the sofa a few moments later, poured Zachary a cup of tea, and slid it across the table.
Clive poured himself a glass of water.
Drinking tea in the middle of the night was detrimental to sleep. A sleepless night would directly impact energy levels at work the next day.
In his mind, Zachary silently accused Clive of his sly tactic.
He could forget about sleep if he took a sip or two of that strong tea.

“Is there a specific reason for you to meet me here?”
Zachary declined the cup of tea.
Although he would be wasting a few hours here, he could still enjoy a few hours of sleep with his wife in his arms before heading to work if he avoided the tea.
Clive gestured to Zachary and said, “Have some tea, Mr. York.”
“Thank you, but I’m not fond of tea. Besides, it’s late, and the tea will disrupt my sleep schedule.”
Clive deliberately made a long face. “Are you trying to be rude?”
Zachary maintained his gaze on Clive without flinching, asserting, “You’re Seren’s cousin. Even if you haven’t developed a bond with her yet due to the newness of your relationship, you should still be considerate. She’ll be the one to suffer if I lose sleep tonight.”
Clive was momentarily speechless.
The two engaged in a silent standoff until Clive adopted a serious expression. He asked Zachary, “What’s the reason for keeping your identity from Serenity? Are you afraid she’ll pursue your wealth once she knows who you are?”
“I assume you already have your answer from Seren. I can’t be bothered to respond. Let’s cut to the chase. It’s late. You might not want to go home, but I miss Seren.”
Since they were finally having their wedding night today, Zachary was determined not to waste any time with Clive.
Clive was left speechless.
