Married at First Sight Chapter 664

Chapter 664
Zachary forced a laugh and said, “Is my wife trying to control me now? I have no appetite and don’t want to eat. I’m working hard because I want to finish early and get back to you.”
“Even if you want to return soon, you need to take care of your health. Are you staying in a hotel? If you don’t feel like eating, just have something light.”
“Pick up your phone, Zachary. I want to see you.”
Zachary remained still.
Serenity became angry. “Zachary York, I’ll count to three. If you don’t let me see you, I won’t talk to you for the rest of the year. I won’t answer your calls or respond to your texts either. One…”
As soon as she began counting, Zachary’s face appeared on the screen.
He looked miserable. His usually cold and indifferent expression was flushed an unusual red. Serenity was startled and asked, “Didn’t you see a doctor? You must have a high fever. Are you trying to worry me to death?!”
Zachary propped his head up with his hand and forced himself to say, “I took some cold medicine I bought from the drugstore, but it’s not very effective… Maybe it’s treating the wrong symptoms.”
“Are you still at the office?”
“I’m not at the office. I’m in the apartment. The company has a few apartments for employees from headquarters to stay in when they travel.”
The apartment he was in had a study, and he was currently sitting at his desk there. He thought his cold would clear up soon after taking the medicine.
Unexpectedly, his temperature continued to rise after a few hours.
He was feeling increasingly uncomfortable.
Zachary had always been healthy and rarely…

Zachary had caught colds before, but this particular one was causing him significant distress. He had overestimated his resilience, believing he could manage without help.

“Get yourself to the hospital immediately! Don’t drive the car your company provided; take a taxi!” Serenity insisted, her voice filled with urgency. “Do you hear me? Go to the hospital right now!”

Her anxiety was palpable. How could a grown man like him not know how to care for a cold? Did he not realize his temperature was rising?

“I think… Seren, I’ll hang up now,” Zachary said weakly. Fearing that Serenity would panic if she saw him faint, he quickly ended the call. He attempted to reach the branch’s general manager to arrange for a ride to the hospital, but before he could connect, his vision blurred, and he collapsed onto the table.

Meanwhile, Serenity was startled by Zachary’s abrupt disconnection. She wished she could dive into her phone and rush to his side. She sent him a voice message, but received no response. A second call went unanswered.

“Did he faint?” she wondered, recalling his heavy workload and the lack of rest he had endured due to their recent argument. It seemed plausible that he might have fainted from the fever.

Suddenly, she sprang to her feet and dashed outside, determined to find Zachary. She was deeply worried for him. However, she halted when her hand reached the doorknob. There was something more urgent at hand—Zachary’s fever could damage his health before she could reach him.

Without delay, she called Jasmine. As soon as the call connected, she quickly asked, “Jasmine, what’s Josh’s number? I need to talk to him.”

Josh and Zachary were colleagues, and Zachary had connections with him. It would be quicker to reach out to those associated with Josh and have them send Zachary to the hospital.

“What’s wrong, Seren? Wait, Josh is here now. I’ll hand him the phone,” Jasmine said, passing it to Josh, who was seated across from her. “Mr. Bucham, it’s Seren.”

Josh assumed she was calling regarding the recording.

“Mr. Bucham, Zachary has a cold and a high fever. He may have fainted. Could you please contact someone over there to take him to the hospital? Also, can you arrange for me to go there now?”
