Chapter 641
She also dreamed of him saying many things to her, but she couldn’t hear any of them.
In the dream, she urged him to speak louder because she was unable to hear him, yet his mouth just kept moving. Not a single word reached her, and she felt incredibly anxious.
Mrs. Lane glanced at Serenity before returning to her work.
“I sent your sister and Sonny home yesterday evening and spent the night there. I honestly have no idea if Mr. York returned.”
Serenity smacked her forehead. “Right, you didn’t come home. Ugh, my head hurts. Mrs. Lane, could you please make me a bowl of hangover soup? No, I’ll just take a painkiller. My head is pounding.”
Serenity turned and slipped out of the kitchen.
Acting completely naturally, she wandered into the guest room and grabbed a bottle of painkillers from the medicine box.
“Headache?”
Her sister’s voice echoed.
Startled, Serenity nearly dropped the bottle.
“I have a headache from not sleeping well. I’ll be fine after taking a painkiller.”
Since Liberty had seen her, she stopped trying to take the medicine discreetly.
“How many times have I told you not to drink? You can’t handle it and get drunk after just a few glasses, but you never listen. Do you think you can drink without repercussions just because Zachary isn’t home to watch over you?”
Liberty was upset and angry. She pinched her sister’s ear and scolded, “When Zachary comes back, I’m going to insist he takes you with him on his business trips in the future, so you won’t take advantage of his absence to go drinking again.”
“Sis, his business trips are for work. What would I do if I tagged along?”
“I only had a couple of drinks. I didn’t drink that
clothes on the main balcony.”
“What a load of nonsense. Do you really think I don’t know you? You can’t drink, yet you love it. If no one is watching, you’ll definitely down five, six, or even eight glasses.”
Liberty turned around and headed to the kitchen while scolding her sister, “Ask Mrs. Lane to make you a bowl of hangover soup.”
“I know you love me the most, Liberty. You’re the best sister in the entire world.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
Liberty shot a glare at Serenity.
As Serenity ate, Liberty stepped out to the balcony and noticed clothes hanging outside. She brought in Zachary’s clothes, saying to her sister, “Zachary has been gone for a few days, yet you didn’t help him put away his clothes. Why are they still damp?”
“You have great lighting here, and the balcony faces east. The sun will dry the clothes quickly, but how come they are still wet after being hung for days?”
It hadn’t rained in the last two days either.
Although it was chilly, there were still occasional sunny hours during the day.
The house Liberty rented received less sunlight than Serenity’s, yet the mother and son’s clothes dried well after a day in the sun.
Serenity instinctively replied, “Zachary rarely dries his clothes on the main balcony. He has a small one in his room, so he always hangs his clothes there.”
Liberty rehung the clothes and remarked, “If he doesn’t dry his clothes here, then whose are these? Yours? This long pair of trousers must belong to Zachary. It’s obvious they’re men’s pants.”
Serenity was taken aback.
She carried the bowl outside to take a closer look.
She froze in place.
It really was Zachary’s pants. His shirt and briefs were there too.
“That’s strange. I thought he rarely hung his clothes out here.”
I helped him pack his luggage before his business trip, ensuring that none of his clothes were left out in the sun.
