“Ball!”
“Hang on!”
Josh examined the drawing more closely. Was Zachary a lake ball? A river ball? A wavy ball?
He stared intently at the artwork until it finally dawned on him.
A slimeball.
The woman certainly had a unique talent for name-calling; she expressed her critiques through her art.
Josh would have taken out his phone to snap a picture to show Zachary, but Jasmine and her brother were nearby.
He had to give credit to the woman who had captured Zachary’s heart; she was definitely one of a kind.
“Ms. Sox, and this is?”
After admiring Serenity’s artwork, Josh inquired about Drake.
“My brother.”
Jasmine replied without revealing her brother’s name, seemingly reluctant for Josh to engage too much with him.
With a warm smile, Josh extended his hand to Drake and politely introduced himself. “Mr. Sox, I’m Josh Bucham. I went on a blind date with your sister.”
Jasmine turned to protest, but the fact remained that she had indeed gone on a blind date with Josh, leaving her no room to argue.
“Hello, Mr. Bucham. I’m Drake. You had a blind date with my sister?”
Drake looked to his sister for confirmation. Noticing her smile, albeit lacking enthusiasm, he understood it to be true.
He leaned in closer to whisper in Jasmine’s ear, “When did you go on a blind date with Mr. Bucham, Jas? Is he the one Mom said was a great guy? I think Mr. Bucham seems nice; he made a good first impression.” Jasmine pinched her brother’s thigh beneath the table, hissing through clenched teeth, “We’ll talk at home.”
She then turned to Josh with a grin, asking, “Do you come here often, Mr. Bucham?”
“No, this is my first time here. I heard Neon Nights was a great place, so I invited a few…”
My friends are over here for drinks since it’s been a while since I had to work on a weekend. I wanted to see if the scene is as good as everyone says.” Jasmine didn’t believe the story but chose to remain silent. Suddenly, Serenity collapsed onto the table. The alcohol had finally taken its toll, and she was out.
