“We can talk when we meet later,” she said.
“Okay,” he replied.
Chelsea hung up the phone and informed her parents, “Hank is on his way. There’s no water or electricity in his house right now, so he can’t cook. He said he’ll treat us to breakfast. It’s been a long time since we had breakfast out. Let’s do that later.”
Olivia replied with concern, “Do we really have to spend money again? Our finances are dwindling with Hank’s divorce.”
Silence filled the room.
It was too late.
They were already divorced, and the money had been split with Liberty. What else could they do?
Meanwhile, Serenity was assisting Zachary in packing his clothes. She knew he was a clean freak, so she helped him pack his daily necessities to save him the trouble of buying new ones for his business trip.
After finishing breakfast, Zachary returned to the room and saw Serenity delicately arranging various items into his suitcase until it was stuffed full. He leaned against the doorway, silently watching her. Suddenly, an old face appeared before him.
Startled, Zachary shook himself back to reality upon seeing his Nana. “Nana!” he exclaimed softly. “Why are you grinning to yourself? I thought you were possessed by a ghost.”
His grandmother teased him, “I’ve been your Nana for many years, yet it’s the first time I’ve seen you giggling to yourself.”
“I can’t believe you looked so silly! I should have taken a picture of that goofy smile before I brought you back to reality.”
Zachary felt frustrated. Grandmama was now also gazing at her granddaughter-in-law in the room. She gently touched Zachary’s arm and asked in a soft yet smug tone, “What do you think? The wife I found for you is qualified in every way, right?”
“It’s time for your inspection to come to an end. Thank you, Nana.” Zachary genuinely expressed his gratitude to his grandmother, as she was the one who had introduced Serenity to him in the first place. “Now that your relationship is improving, my job will be complete. Once you finally have a wife, I can move on to the next couple.”
