Chapter 576
Unexpectedly, the Sox family had several buildings available for lease, resulting in a substantial influx of rental income.
That was how the Sox family amassed their wealth.
“Let Jasmine and Mr. Bucham develop their relationship organically; I believe a spark will ignite between them as they become more familiar with each other,”
Serenity remarked. Ever since she learned about Josh from Jasmine, she felt that Jasmine and Josh were perfectly matched. They both enjoyed vibrant environments, and Josh had experienced plenty of drama firsthand.
“I spoke with Mr. Bucham, and he is quite taken with Ms. Sox. If we give him a little time, he will likely take more initiative. With New Year approaching, everyone in our company will be busier than usual, especially those in positions like Mr. Bucham. He’ll have the chance to address his personal and emotional affairs during the holidays.”
During Zachary’s business trip, Josh and Callum would be responsible for running the company, which would keep them occupied.
Serenity hummed thoughtfully. She didn’t want Jasmine to move far away if she ended up with Josh. It would also benefit Zachary, as he could potentially advance in his career and enjoy a salary increase, which would enhance their family’s financial stability.
However, she worried that it might come across as if she was exploiting her friend for financial gain.
The husband and wife discussed matchmaking, and when it was time for Serenity to remove her mask, she stood up and headed to the bathroom.
After a while, she emerged, climbed into bed, and kicked off her slippers. She patted Zachary’s side of the bed and said, “Zachary, come here and let me steal your body warmth. I’ll have lovely dreams when I’m warm.”
Zachary sighed in exasperation, “So you’re using me as a hot compress?”
“A hot compress needs to be heated, but you don’t, so you’re—”
“Much better than a hot compress. You’re so much more effortless,” she said, leaving Zachary speechless. He moved closer and lay down beside her, turning to face her as he gently tapped her head. “Is drawing warmth from me the only way you plan to use me?”
“What else can I think about in this state?” Serenity replied, instinctively burrowing into his arms. “If I say I want to turn on the heating, you’d complain that it’s too dry. It’s freezing these days, so I can only cling to you for warmth.”
Even with the doors and windows closed, she still felt cold. The main issue was the room’s size.
“I saw the weather forecast on my phone. The cold air will continue to move south, and it’s going to be cold and rainy for New Year’s. You should wear more layers when I’m not home. I don’t want you to catch a cold.”
“I know. I’m not a three-year-old. I can take care of myself.”
Zachary embraced her and instinctively took her hand with the diamond ring, relieved to see it still on her finger.
He made sure to remind her, “You can’t take off the ring while I’m away.”
“I know. I wear it every day. When I see Shawn, I’ll make sure to show off my finger, okay?”
How jealousy-inducing! It was sure to make Shawn envious for life.
“Remember to think of me every day.”
Serenity buried her head into his chest, mumbling something he couldn’t quite make out.
“Serenity.”
“I’m sleeping.”
“How can you talk if you’re sleeping?”
“I’m sleep-talking.”
Zachary couldn’t help but smile. He leaned down, whispering softly in her ear, “Be sure to think of me. Don’t forget who I am when I return from my business trip.”
