Married at First Sight Chapter 556

Chapter 556
“Which floor is our unit on?”
“Sixteenth floor.”
Hank took Jessica’s suitcase from the car, pulled it along, and led her inside.
As they reached the elevator, they encountered a neighbor who greeted them and then asked, “Mr. Brown, didn’t your wife bring a group of people over to move out this afternoon? Why are you still returning here?”
“She was moving her things out.”
The neighbor glanced at Jessica, seeming to understand the situation.
He smiled at Hank and walked away.
It was no surprise that Hank had been chased by Liberty with a kitchen knife for five blocks; it turned out he was cheating on his wife.
They should be divorced, right?
Liberty had just moved out that afternoon, and Hank had come home with a beautiful woman the very same night. He wouldn’t be so brazen unless he was already divorced.
“Does he suspect anything?”
Jessica felt uneasy, knowing she was the homewrecker in this situation.
Hank pulled her suitcase with one arm while wrapping the other around her shoulders. With a smile, he ushered her into the elevator. “Have you forgotten what I did this afternoon? I divorced Liberty, so I’m single now. You’re my girlfriend, so what if they know?”
“Jessica, we can be together openly and honestly now. There’s no need to worry about what others think.”
Jessica paused before responding, “That’s true, you’re divorced.”
She realized she no longer had to hide.
The elevator carried them to the sixteenth floor.
“We’re here,”
Hank said, pointing to the door of his apartment. “That’s the one.”
Jessica followed him inside.
He took out his keys and opened the door, revealing a dark interior that briefly confused him.
In the past, no matter how late he…

When he returned home, he expected the light to be on, waiting for him. Now, that light would never shine again.

“It’s so dark. Turn on the lights,” Jessica reminded him as she followed him inside.

Hank instinctively reached for the switch behind the door and pressed it, but no lights came on. Thinking he hadn’t pressed it properly, he tried again, yet the house remained dark.

What was happening? Was there a power outage? Other homes in the neighborhood were lit, so there was no way a power outage could be the reason for his unit being dark.

He pulled out his cell phone, turned on the flashlight, and directed it toward the light switch. It looked perfectly fine, and he was certain he had pressed the right button. So why weren’t the lights working?

“Hank!”

Jessica suddenly yanked on his shirt and shouted in alarm, “Are we in the wrong house?”

This was Hank’s house?

There were no luxurious renovations, the walls weren’t even plastered, and garbage was strewn everywhere.

This was definitely not Hank’s home!

“What—”

Hank swung his phone in an arc. The small flashlight illuminated the surroundings, and he was so shocked by what he saw that he dropped his phone to the ground.
