Married at First Sight Chapter 542

Chapter 542: “Why did they defend that scumbag Hank?” Jasmine asked curiously. “Did the Browns offer something to make it worth their while?”
Serenity smirked. “My sister and Hank renegotiated the terms of the divorce. According to the new divorce papers, Hank must pay my sister over a million dollars. I suppose Mrs. Brown couldn’t part with that money, so she tried to persuade my granddad to talk to us.”
After all, the Hunts were the sisters’ family by name.
“I wonder how much Mrs. Brown gave my granddad. Well, she’ll never see that money again. She usually has a knack for setting my sister up, but not this time. I guess she got flustered.”
Life offers no second chances.
“Now that this matter is settled, you should head to work, Zachary.”
With the Hunts gone, Serenity encouraged her partner to leave for work.
Although Zachary accompanied Serenity to the shop, he wasn’t much help. Serenity was a powerhouse, so he typically took a step back and let her handle things.
With a sulky demeanor, a certain heir followed his wife’s encouragement to leave.
Back at the office, Zachary called Jim.
Once Jim answered, Zachary got straight to the point. “Jim, gather everyone and bring tools for dismantling a house. Head to Bright Boulevard this afternoon to help my wife’s sister move out and demolish the house.”
Jim respectfully replied, “Understood.”
“You can sit this one out. Serenity knows you.”
After a brief pause, Jim said, “Sir, while I’m acting as the designated driver, I can take on other jobs too. Home demolition is my specialty.”
It would be a disappointment for Jim to miss out on such an exciting task.
After some consideration, Zachary remarked, “You can join if you can come up with a story that won’t raise any suspicions with Serenity.”
Jim

Jim responded immediately, “Relax, Mr. Zachary. I’m getting better at coming up with excuses. The missus won’t suspect a thing.” Zachary fell silent for a moment before eerily remarking, “Why do I get the feeling you’re suggesting that I tell a lot of tales?”

Jim was left speechless. He would never have the courage to imply anything. However, Zachary remained calm, and the call soon ended.

After Mr. Zachary hung up, Jim sighed with relief and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. He had broken out in a cold sweat at Mr. Zachary’s grim comment, even in the middle of winter. Luckily, he had secured the opportunity to assist with the home demolition for the missus’s sister.

By afternoon, Liberty dropped her son off at the shop and asked her sister to watch over Sonny.

“Liberty, do you want me to come?” Serenity asked, concerned that an issue might arise. “Your parents-in-law gave Granddad and the others something this morning. They told me a bunch of stuff about saving the marriage, and I told them to leave.”

As she handed her sleeping child to her sister, Liberty said softly, “Sonny fell asleep on the way here. He already had lunch, so just let him nap.”

“Hank called me earlier. We’re meeting at the time and place we agreed on yesterday. It seems he has convinced his parents.”

Liberty wasn’t worried that Hank might change his mind. He prioritized his career and was eager to be with Jessica, so he wouldn’t let the matter linger.

He didn’t want the situation hanging over his head. Her mother-in-law had tried to persuade her relatives to talk her out of a divorce? Liberty couldn’t help but laugh; her mother-in-law deserved to lose money for being foolish enough to trust Liberty’s relatives!
