Chapter 482
Zachary stubbornly replied, “No!”
“Really?”
“Really!”
Serenity straightened her posture and, with a look of regret, said, “I was thinking that if you didn’t want me to leave, I could ask Mrs. Lane to stay at my sister’s house while I keep you company. Since you don’t need that, I might as well go and spend time with my sister.”
“The weather is getting colder. It certainly feels like winter is on the way. I always find it uncomfortable to sleep alone during this time,” Serenity sighed.
Zachary was left speechless.
‘Is she suggesting that if I said I didn’t want her to leave, she would take over my bed with the pillow and quilt?’
Serenity maintained her regretful expression as she reached out and gently patted his face twice. She then let her fingers trail down to his neck and finally rubbed his chest. When Zachary’s gaze became intense, and he focused on her, she quickly withdrew her wandering hand.
“I’m hungry. Let’s eat. I want to find out if the dishes my husband cooked for me are any good.”
Having finished teasing him, Serenity prepared to leave.
As she walked past Zachary, he immediately turned and wrapped his arms around her waist from behind.
“Do you think you can just leave after teasing me?”
He teased in a husky voice, his hands gripping her waist tightly. Despite her kickboxing practice, she couldn’t break free from him.
“Loosen up,” Serenity said, struggling to pry his hands away.
Zachary planted a kiss on her cheek before he
He relaxed his grip as she turned within his embrace to look up at him. Her lovely face was flushed from their playful banter, and her beautiful eyes sparkled like stars in the dark night.
In Zachary’s eyes, she appeared irresistibly seductive at that moment.
“Serenity.”
“I prefer it when you call me Seren.”
“You often refer to me as Mr. York,” Zachary replied, a hint of grievance in his voice.
She didn’t speak to him in an affectionate manner.
“I’m already calling you Zachary. How about I call you Zacky instead?”
Zachary paused briefly before responding, “You can just call me Zachary.”
Zacky. Just hearing that name gave him goosebumps.
“Haha.”
Serenity knew he would never let her call him Zacky.
Zachary felt a bit annoyed. When her laughter became too much, he silenced her with a kiss.
Afterward, he whispered in her ear, “Stay home tonight.”
“Hm?”
“Didn’t you mention that it’s cold and you feel uncomfortable sleeping alone? I’ll share my warmth with you.”
Zachary’s handsome face inexplicably flushed as he spoke those words.
Serenity was taken aback.
The way he looked when he blushed was simply adorable!
“I haven’t figured out if what I feel for you is gratitude or affection.”
Zachary shot her a glare, gritting his teeth. “You really have a knack for spoiling the mood!”
“Thanks for the compliment!”
Just then, Serenity’s stomach growled audibly.
“I’m hungry, Zachary. Let’s eat.”
Zachary refused to release her.
“Be good, Zacky. Let’s go out for dinner.”
Zachary lifted his chin.
What an arrogant guy.
Feeling helpless, Serenity tiptoed and kissed him on the lips. Then, she laughed and said, “I surrender. I admit defeat. Zachary York, you’re the best man in the world.”
“I’ll only be the best man in your heart.”
He softened and released her.
Once free, she quickly took his warm, large hand and pulled him outside.
She casually replied, “You’re already the best man in my heart for now.” No one could say if anyone would surpass him in the future.
