“Let’s keep our affection for each other private in front of her,” she suggested. She leaned in, kissed him, and smiled, “It’s okay as long as I know you gave me flowers.” They both recognized that there would be plenty of opportunities to express their love in the future, so there was no need to rush things now.
Zachary felt a wave of relief wash over him. “You two share a wonderful bond,” he remarked.
“We relied on each other for over a decade. My sister did so much to raise me. She was only five years older, and when we suddenly lost our parents, she became not just a sister but also a mother to me. In my heart, she’s the most important person in my life,” she explained.
As she and Zachary walked into the building together, she added, “You and your cousins have a strong bond as well. They really respect you as the eldest, and they’re very kind to me, even though we’ve only met a few times.”
Zachary smiled. “Since we were kids, our parents instilled in us the importance of respecting one another. They taught us that a harmonious family is key to success in any endeavor. They always said that no matter how powerful someone may be, they need the support of friends and family to thrive in this world. Nothing significant has ever been achieved by someone acting alone.”

He stood at the center of it all, with his cousins orbiting around him, consistently offering help and support. Nevertheless, the heaviest burden rested on his shoulders.
How could his cousins not respect him when he carried the majority of the weight alone? Moreover, anyone who assisted him would earn respect in return.
The couple made their way upstairs. When they entered Liberty’s home, they saw…
Mrs. Lane dozed off while sitting on the sofa. She woke up when she heard the door open and saw Serenity and her husband had returned. Quickly standing up with a smile, she said, “Mr. York, Miss Hunt, breakfast is ready.”
“Mrs. Lane, please make sure you get some rest later. These past few days have been tough on you,” Mr. York advised.
Mrs. Lane nodded in agreement.
The previous night, the three adults had struggled to sleep due to Sonny’s fever and persistent crying.
Serenity walked into the room to check on her sister and nephew. Seeing them finally sleeping peacefully brought her relief.
Leaning down, she gently touched Sonny’s still-pale face and placed a soft kiss on his cheek. “Sonny, I promise to help you get justice,” she whispered.
Serenity then tiptoed out of her sister’s room.
