Married at First Sight Chapter 433

Chapter 433
Elisa expressed her gratitude, saying, “Serenity, if you help us locate my aunt, you’ll become our family’s benefactor. We will treat you well.”
“We’re friends, so let’s not be formal. I’m also thinking of my mom. If she were still alive, my sister and I would do everything we could to help her find her family.”
Her mother had passed away over ten years ago, leaving her with only faint memories. Fortunately, her sister resembled their mother, allowing her to recall her by looking at her sister.
“I won’t intrude on your date with your husband. Enjoy yourselves, and let me know when the wedding takes place. I’d love to be your bridesmaid.”
Elisa playfully teased Serenity before taking the initiative to end the
call.
“Was that Ms. Stone again?” Zachary asked casually.
“Yes. She wanted to visit us but changed her mind when she found out I was with you.”
Zachary internally snorted. ‘Good!’
“Elisa is truly a wonderful person, but your boss…” Serenity sighed as she thought of Mr. York with his wedding ring. “I suppose they’re just not meant to be.”
“What did you two discuss? I heard you mention your mother,” Zachary shifted the conversation.
He preferred not to dwell on himself during their conversation.
They walked side by side, hands intertwined. “Serenity mentioned she’s focused on finding her aunt now. It’s better for her to stay busy rather than constantly thinking about Mr. York.”
“I didn’t know Mrs. Stone grew up in an orphanage. She had a younger sister who was adopted but ended up with different families multiple times. They still haven’t found her sister.”
“My mom was also adopted by my grandparents, but she has no relatives searching for her. She lacks memories of her early

She didn’t have much of a childhood to recall. The only memories she had were of her previous adoptive parents who often scolded and beat her, prompting her escape from a life she could no longer endure.

“She managed to escape when she was only seven or eight years old. With no means to provide for herself, she collapsed from hunger by the roadside until my grandparents found her and adopted her. After that, she lived a stable life, eventually meeting my father, marrying him, and giving birth to us. Both of my parents knew how to make money, and our family’s situation gradually improved, but…”

She paused, leaving the thought unfinished.

Zachary was aware of her story.

“Mrs. Stone still remembers her sister, and the family is investing significant resources in the search for her. They have never given up hope. Although her sister may have faced hardships, she is luckier than my mother in one significant way: at least someone in her family is still looking for her.”

“My mom doesn’t recall having any family. Her childhood was marked by constant upheaval, with frequent beatings, scoldings, and hunger. At one point, she suffered a serious illness that caused her to forget everything before the age of seven or eight.”

Zachary grasped her hand tightly, his voice steady. “Your mother didn’t have relatives searching for her. Either they are gone, or she was abandoned. During that time, many people did not want to have daughters and would discard them.”

Serenity contemplated his words and responded, “That makes sense. If my mom was abandoned, there would be no reason to search for her relatives, even if they were alive.”

As she spoke about her deceased mother, her mood darkened. “Zachary, I want to return and pay my respects to my parents. The Hunt family hasn’t allowed us to visit my parents’ graves since they forced my sister and me out of town. They warned us that if we tried to visit secretly, they would destroy my mother’s grave.”

“They have even moved my parents’ graves, so…”

“I don’t even know where they are buried now.” Serenity hesitated to reconcile with her dreadful relatives back home, primarily because they had crossed too many lines. It was her parents’ graves, but they were no longer allowed to visit. When they were younger, the sisters had been unable to resist, but now that they were adults, the Hunt family had relocated the graves without informing them, making it impossible for the sisters to visit, even if they wished to.

Despite their past transgressions, the family was now trying to make amends with her. However, Serenity found it hard to forgive them.

Zachary paused in his tracks. Serenity stopped as well. The couple exchanged glances. Zachary grasped her shoulders and promised earnestly, “Serenity, I will ensure that you and your sister can visit your parents’ graves one day. You will also reclaim the house your parents left behind.”
