Married at First Sight Chapter 427

Chapter 427
Duncan’s words caused Liberty’s face to flush with embarrassment.
Her weight gain was due to her overeating and lack of exercise, leading her to grow larger each day.
“I will, Mr. Lewis. I promise to lose weight during the probation period,” she vowed.
In the future, she planned to run not only in the morning but also at night.
She was determined to shed the excess fat on her body.
“Good. Your probation period has been shortened to one month. Good luck,”
Duncan offered a few encouraging words before heading toward his private elevator. In an instant, his strong figure vanished into the elevator.
Once Liberty could no longer see him, she turned her attention back to find her boss glaring at her with disapproval.
She bit her lip and quietly returned to the finance department office.
Previously a CFO, Liberty was now just a clerk in the finance department, but everyone sensed there was some tension regarding her relationship with Duncan. As a result, the current CFO, Kim, viewed Liberty as a potential threat, fearing she might take her position.
No one acted overtly, but many colleagues attempted to undermine her, setting various traps to make her fail at work before her probation ended.
If this had happened to Liberty in her previous life, she would have resigned long ago due to such ostracism.
However, she needed to endure this treatment for now, at least until after her divorce and the custody of Sonny was secured.
After Liberty left, the other finance department employees huddled around Kim, saying, “Why doesn’t she look in the mirror? How dare she make eyes at Mr. Lewis? He even talked to her for so long.”
Liberty

Duncan simply faced Liberty when she spoke to him, but others misinterpreted it as her flirting with him.

“She’s already married and has a two-year-old son,” Kim remarked softly.

“There’s no way Mr. Lewis would be interested in her,” someone replied.

“Exactly. Just look at how unattractive she is. No man would find her appealing, especially not Mr. Lewis. Why hasn’t her husband divorced her considering how fat and ugly she is? Can he really afford to keep feeding her given how much she eats?”

Kim laughed but didn’t respond.

She already knew that Liberty and Duncan were acquainted due to an incident where Liberty accidentally scratched Duncan’s car, and her brother-in-law’s connection to him led to her recruitment. Duncan had no real interest in Liberty.

However, what Kim was truly worried about wasn’t a romantic relationship between Liberty and Duncan; she feared that if Liberty excelled, she might replace her.

Even though everyone had isolated and plotted against Liberty at Kim’s suggestion, Liberty managed to counteract their schemes. This clearly indicated that if Liberty were determined, Kim would have little recourse left.

“How does she get to work?”

“She rides a ladies’ motorcycle.”

“Is there a workshop nearby?”

“I don’t think so. It would take a long journey to find a motorcycle repair shop.”

Kim hummed thoughtfully and walked away.

Her group of supporters exchanged glances, quickly coming to a mutual understanding.

If they couldn’t undermine Liberty at work, they would find ways to create problems for her in her personal life, hoping she would eventually leave Lewis & Co. on her own when the stress became unbearable.
