Married at First Sight Chapter 378

Chapter 378
Unfortunately, his few close friends were just as inexperienced as he was.
He couldn’t ask Nana for advice in private, either; she’d just laugh at him.
He recalled how stubbornly he had told Nana that he wouldn’t pursue his wife. Now, he felt his cheeks flush with embarrassment.
However, he didn’t actually need to chase after his wife—Serenity was already his wife!
“Thank you for your concern, Mr. York. I’ll be careful.”
Serenity’s nimble hands were skillfully crafting a car. “Mr. York, you should take Mrs. Lane home first. Don’t forget to bring Snowball and the others along.”
Zachary’s expression tightened. “I’m not bringing those three furballs.”
“Then let Mrs. Lane take them. The store isn’t busy right now, so you two can’t really assist me here anyway. Why not head home and let Mrs. Lane tidy up her room?”
“You’re trying to send me away!” Serenity glanced up at him before looking down again to continue her work. With a hint of amusement, she said, “Mr. York, I’ve realized you’re quite sensitive. I’m just being honest, not trying to chase you off. Tell me, how can you help me by staying here?”
Zachary tensed and remained silent.
He had no idea how to create crafts.
If he tried to sell books, she would probably say his serious demeanor would scare the students away.
Zachary had to admit that he truly couldn’t assist her here. ‘Why did Nana find me such a capable wife? I don’t even have the opportunity to show off!’
Zachary inwardly grumbled about his nana.
If Old Mrs. York were present, she would say, “You and Serenity signed a six-month agreement, and you’ll divorce when it’s over anyway.”
Zachary fell silent.
Was she really his nana?
Mrs. Lane quickly interjected, “Ms. Hunt, I only brought a…

A few sets of clothes remained unpacked. Since there was nothing I needed to retrieve, I felt no urgency to return.”

As the two were reluctant to leave, Serenity chose not to press the issue further. Mrs. Lane discreetly positioned herself behind a bookshelf in the corner, engrossed in a book to avoid feeling like a third wheel. However, she was attentive, listening closely to the conversation between the young couple. If anything went awry, she would be ready to intervene. Zachary was arrogant, clumsy in his speech, and lacked the charm needed to win over a girl. Even if he realized he cared for Serenity, he would struggle to articulate it in a way that conveyed his feelings.

Mrs. Lane believed it would be more realistic to wish for pigs to sprout wings and fly than to expect Zachary to sweet-talk Serenity into happiness.

Zachary observed Serenity as she worked in silence.

Suddenly, Serenity asked, “Mr. York, your boss is the heir of the York family. Is he married?”

Zachary’s dark eyes flickered with uncertainty. He hesitated to respond, waiting for her to elaborate.

“Everyone in Wiltspoon knows that Elisa has feelings for your boss, and I’ve given her a few tips on how to pursue him. To my surprise, she came by this morning and mentioned she saw Mr. York wearing a wedding band on the ring finger of his left hand.”

“Since he’s the CEO of your company, do you have any insider information? Did Mr. York really get married?”

Zachary glanced at his own bare fingers. He only wore the ring when he interacted with Elisa.

“We don’t have a definitive answer either, but I was fortunate to attend the meeting today. Although I was seated at the far end of the table, my eyesight is excellent, and I did see him wearing a ring on his left finger.”

Serenity looked up at him, meeting his dark gaze, and asked curiously, “Do you know who his wife is?”

Zachary shook his head.

“No. While I am one of the company’s executives, I am not one of his trusted aides, so I am not privy to such matters.” After a moment, he continued, “Someone inquired about it with Mr. Bucham after hearing the news. Mr. Bucham is my boss’s closest friend.”

“However, Mr. Bucham did not disclose who the boss’s wife is. He only mentioned that the boss is indeed married and dotes on his wife quite a bit.”

In the corner, Mrs. Lane struggled to contain her laughter. “Mr. Zachary, you certainly know how to present yourself favorably. It’s obvious that you’re deceiving your wife, yet you claim to pamper her…”
