Chapter 349
In a café, Jasmine chose a secluded corner and took a seat.
Shawn sat across from her.
“Shawn, what would you like to drink?”
“Anything. I’ll have whatever you’re having.”
Jasmine told the waiter, “Two cups of black coffee, please.”
“Jas, black coffee is bitter,” he remarked.
Jasmine shot him a glance, and Shawn sheepishly added, “Fine.”
Once the two cups of coffee were served, Jasmine bluntly asked, “Shawn, I have a question for you. Are you in love with Serenity?”
Shawn was taken aback.
He stared blankly at Jasmine.
“Jas…”
“Tell me the truth!” she insisted.
Shawn’s face gradually turned red.
Did he reveal too much?
“Jas, I… I like Serenity,” he admitted.
“When did that begin?”
Shawn replied quietly, “I don’t know exactly when it started. It may have been when I first learned about love at 14, or maybe at 17.”
Jasmine’s expression turned somber. “You’ve had a crush on Serenity for such a long time.”
Shawn had concealed his feelings for long enough.
Neither Jasmine nor Serenity was aware of this; they had always treated Shawn like a younger brother. In fact, he was three years younger than both of them and fit that role perfectly.
Shawn felt his cheeks heat up.
“Shawn, just give up. Serenity won’t reciprocate your feelings. She has always viewed you as a younger brother. It was one thing when she was single, but now she’s married…”
“Jas, didn’t you say that Serenity and her husband married for convenience? They’ll likely divorce in six months.”
Jasmine replied coldly, “It doesn’t matter why they got married. The fact is, Serenity is married.
She’s someone else’s wife. Do you really want to be a homewrecker?”
Shawn retorted bitterly, “I…
“I met Serenity first,” he said.
“Love isn’t about who arrives first. Did you know that the last time Serenity treated you to lunch, her husband saw her serving food onto your plate because your favorite dish was in front of her? That sparked a misunderstanding and an argument between them.”
Shawn replied, “That just shows how petty her husband is. He doesn’t trust her, and couples who don’t respect each other won’t have a lasting relationship. They’ll end up divorced sooner or later.”
“Whether or not they get divorced isn’t the point. What matters is that Serenity is married now, so you shouldn’t get close to her anymore. Avoid our store unless it’s absolutely necessary. If you need to reach me, just call or come to my house.”
“It’s better for both you and Serenity if you keep your distance.”
Shawn’s face went pale. “Jas, you’re my cousin! Why aren’t you supporting me? I’ve had a crush on Serenity for years and have deep feelings for her. If you won’t let me visit your store, you’re keeping me from seeing her.”
