Chapter 346
Serenity exclaimed, “My husband gave this to me! Isn’t it beautiful? I love it!”
After snapping numerous photos of the bouquet, Serenity set her phone aside, picked up the bouquet, and inhaled its fragrance. “It smells wonderful too!”
To Shawn, this scene was quite off-putting.
“Oh, your husband sent you flowers? What’s the special occasion? I’ve never seen him send you flowers before,” Shawn remarked, his smile appearing somewhat forced and his tone tinged with bitterness as if he had a grievance.
Serenity looked up at him and replied, “Does there need to be an occasion for my husband to send me flowers? He could send me a bouquet every day if he wanted. I just worry about him spending too much since bouquets aren’t cheap and are not edible. I told him it would be better to save that money for meat instead of flowers, which is why he hasn’t sent me any before.”
Shawn responded, “Right…”
“Shawn, are you looking for Jas? Why not call her? She should be back soon.”
“It’s nothing. I just happened to pass by and thought I’d stop in to see you both. I’ll head back to work now,” he replied.
“Okay.”
Serenity answered while continuing to admire the bouquet that Zachary had given her.
Seeing her focused on the flowers made Shawn feel uneasy, but he couldn’t express his feelings, so he turned and left.
Ever since Serenity declined Shawn’s invitation to attend a business reception with him, she had been indifferent toward him, consistently reminding him that she was a married woman.
Shawn thought, ‘Didn’t Serenity marry a stranger?’
Jas had mentioned that Serenity only got married to ease Liberty’s mind and that Serenity and her husband had signed a six-month agreement, intending to divorce afterward.
the contract period.
Did Serenity fall in love with her mysterious husband?
Shawn appeared listless.
“Shawn? What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at work?”
Jasmine returned with Sonny, timing it perfectly to see her cousin’s glum demeanor and quickly grasped the situation.
“Jas.”
Jasmine called out to Shawn, who swiftly composed himself in an effort to mask his feelings of loss.
“I was dropping off some documents to my dad and thought I’d stop by to see you girls,” he explained.
Shawn’s excuse might fool Serenity, but not Jasmine.
Jasmine knew her uncle typically met clients at their hotel for business discussions, and the bookstore was not on the way from Lowe Enterprise’s hotel to the office.
Rather than confront Shawn about his deception, Jasmine said, “Wait here. I’ll grab Sonny and be right back. Let’s go get some coffee.”
With that, Jasmine took Sonny into the store, where the little boy was already asleep.
“Seren, Sonny is asleep.”
Jasmine handed her nephew to her friend. Upon noticing the bouquet on the table, Jasmine immediately understood why Shawn seemed so downcast. She didn’t need to ask to know that Mr. York had given Serenity those flowers.
Jasmine thought, ‘It seems Serenity has reconciled with her husband. Mr. York even brought her flowers.’
Serenity held her nephew, saying, “Sonny slept in today. He usually naps around noon.” Jasmine placed the snacks and toys she had bought on the table.
“You bought so many toys for Sonny again.”
“I picked out whatever he liked, and it wasn’t too expensive. Seren, did Mr. York give you this bouquet? It’s so beautiful!”
As Jasmine admired the lovely bouquet, she winked at her friend.
Serenity’s cheeks flushed, and she replied, “He mentioned he stumbled upon a florist and saw this.”
He brought me a beautiful bouquet and mentioned that it didn’t hold any significance. However, witnessing Zachary’s distress and his sudden departure after giving it to her made her reflect on the situation for several days. It was simply amusing!
