“If you have, then pay the bill and leave!”
Although Elisa was somewhat capricious, she recognized that it was inappropriate to start a confrontation on a store’s opening day. Still, she was being quite polite to Hank and Olivia.
“We’re done; we’re done. We were just about to settle the bill and head out,” Hank insisted, pressing his mother down to silence her. He pulled out a hundred-dollar bill from his wallet and handed it to Liberty. “Keep the change.”
Liberty was about to respond when Elisa quickly snatched the bill from Hank’s hand. He hurried out with his mother, escaping the situation.
“At least they had the common sense to leave quickly; otherwise, I would have kicked them out,” Elisa remarked. She looked at her shoes and added, “I’m not wearing high heels since I drove here today. Otherwise, I guarantee they’d be in pain for three days if I kicked them.”
She handed the cash to Liberty and said, “You don’t need to be nice to people like them. If they come in for breakfast, make sure to charge them. Their presence will affect your mood too, so it’s not worth it unless you charge them more.”
Serenity laughed. “They didn’t eat anything.”
Elisa paused. “They didn’t? Then think of this hundred dollars as pocket money for Sonny to buy snacks.”
She pressed the money into Liberty’s hand.
Then, she chose a seat as if nothing had happened and smiled. “I’d like…,” she glanced at the wall and made a random selection, “Eggs Benedict, please.”
She wasn’t sure what to order either; she was simply placing an order to support Liberty’s business.
Since Elisa arrived late, she shared Hank’s assumption that the store was struggling.
“Sure, just a moment. I can cook for you right away since you came in…”
At that moment, the morning rush hour saw an overwhelming number of customers, resulting in numerous orders for both dine-in and takeout. I was so busy that I could hardly catch my breath.”
Elisa blinked, realizing she had been mistaken.
Given the Hunt sisters’ exceptional cooking skills, it was impossible for their restaurant to be struggling.
“Hank, Hank—”
Suddenly, Jessica burst in like a whirlwind.
In an instant, bodyguards from the York family, along with those hired by Duncan to patrol the area, rushed in.
