“Has Zachary eaten?”
“He’s cooking right now. Liberty, we’re going to his family home tomorrow. He’s invited a few friends for a barbecue. Would you like to join us with Sonny?”
Liberty quickly replied, “I still have a lot to do, and I’m opening the day after tomorrow. Although everything is prepared, I feel like there are still many loose ends to tie up. However, I’ve never been to your in-laws’ home, and I really want to visit.”
Tania had not yet contacted Liberty or Mrs. Stone. Liberty felt a bit anxious that her sister’s in-laws might be dissatisfied with her sister in some way.
Tania was busy preparing the supplements to give to Alice, as well as gifts for Liberty. She planned to choose a good day to invite Liberty out for a meal, so both families could meet officially and discuss the couple’s wedding.
Because of this, she had not reached out to Liberty yet.
“Zachary will arrange for Mrs. Lane and Jim to come over and help out. If you need to buy anything else, make a list. Once they’re there, you can just hand it to them to take care of it. Liberty, let’s go together then.”
“Alright. I’ll bring Sonny with me.”
Liberty couldn’t leave the store behind, but visiting the Yorks’ home to meet the parents on behalf of her deceased parents felt more important than her current responsibilities.
Since her brother-in-law had everything covered, she would let Mrs. Lane and Jim manage the store while she took her son to the Yorks’ family home.
“Seren, Sonny wants to talk to you.”
When the little guy learned that his aunt was on the line, he kept tugging at his mother’s sleeve, eager to speak with her.
Liberty handed the phone to her son, who quickly took it and sweetly said, “Aunt…”
“Sonny, are you having dinner? Are you full? What did Mommy cook for you?” Sonny replied cheerfully, “It’s not Mom’s cooking. It’s the food Dad brought for me. It’s delicious, but Mom didn’t eat any. She’s just having vegetables.” Liberty was still trying to lose weight, so she avoided meat at dinner and only had a little during lunch. “Did your dad come by again?” That Hank was really clingy and wouldn’t leave them alone. What a family of oddballs.
