The Throne of Thorns Novel Chapter 317

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 317

Chapter 317

Before Larissa could answer, a voice piped up from the side. “That’s right. Larissa is the poison expert. No one in the world is better with poisons than she is, and only she can create the antidotes, because she invents them all herself.”

Avril turned to see a man in a bright yellow food delivery uniform standing by the suite, holding a fancy take–out box.

“Torrin Dillon?” Avril’s eyes widened as she looked him up and down. “What are you doing delivering food again?”

Like Larissa, Torrin had only recently been brought back into his family, though the Dillons hadn’t thrown him a welcome party, merely announcing his return on social media.

Torrin looked at Larissa, about to say something, when his expression suddenly turned anxious. “Larissa, wait right there! I have to deliver this order before I’m late and they dock my pay. I’ll be right back! It won’t take long!”

With that, he dashed off, take–out box in hand.

Avril was speechless. Were all delivery drivers this frantic?

Larissa sighed. She had to admit, Torrin’s work ethic was impressive. It also gave her the perfect escape. She stood up abruptly. “Let’s go!”

Not a second to waste.

“Huh?” Avril took a moment to register that Larissa was making a run for it to avoid Torrin. “Oh, right.”

She hurried after her, exclaiming as they walked, “Larissa, you’re an amazing doctor, you can handle poisons and antidotes, and you can control venomous creatures. How many talents do you have? I can’t keep up! No wonder Torrin is so obsessed with you. If I were a guy, I’d be the same way!”

“And no wonder Finley was so obedient! He and Honora must be losing their minds now that they know their lives are in your hands. But they deserve it. Let them stew in their regret!”

“And you’re so clever, sending Finley to deal with Garrick. No matter what happens to either of them, you come out on top.”

“You’re pretty sharp yourself, Avril, to see my intentions,” Larissa said as they walked.

Avril blushed at the praise. “Well, I try.” After a moment, she asked, “So, where are we going now?”

Torrin delivered the food on time to the Dawn Suite, only to find his sister, Sharon, and her inseparable best friend sitting inside.

He slammed the delivery box on the table. “Sis, did you do this on purpose?”

Sharon raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence. “Do what on purpose? I just ordered some food.”

“You ordered food just to make me deliver it and laugh at me,” Torrin accused.

Sharon opened the box and inspected the perfectly intact, elaborate cake inside. “I was craving cake

from this particular shop, but I couldn’t leave the auction to get it myself. How was I supposed to know the platform would assign the order to you?”

Torrin didn’t buy it. He hadn’t been back with the Dillons for long, but he knew his sister loved to mess with him. He’d even heard her call him her “foolish brother.”

“Our family developed this delivery platform. It would be easy for you to assign an order to a specific driver,” he pointed out.

“Oh, you know our family developed it?” Sharon said with mock surprise. “Impressive. I thought all you knew was how to deliver food. But no, I’m not that bored.”
