The Throne of Thorns Novel Chapter 254

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 254

“Is what Larissa said true?” Zoltan demanded, his voice stern as he reached the bottom of the stairs.

Garrick clenched his jaw and remained silent.

Tobias glanced at his daughter, Faith. Faith understood his meaning. Besides Haskell, Fraser’s family was also a target. Since her brother Solomon couldn’t always be the one to speak out, it was her turn. “Grandpa, Ms. Judson is right. Garrick was just bragging to us about giving Haskell a hundred wheelchairs”

Hearing his own family betray him after they had refused to back him up moments earlier, Garrick exploded. “Faith! You were laughing at Haskell right along with me!”

“Was I?” Faith feigned innocence. “I believe I said you were being cruel. How is that laughing?”

“Faith, stop pretending in front of Grandpa!” Garrick seethed. “You can’t tell me you weren’t thrilled when Haskell was crippled!”

“Even if I was happy that my brother now has a chance to be the heir, I never stooped to kicking a man when he’s down,” Faith retorted.

Avril shook her head. Her uncles‘ families were at each other’s throats again. But it was impressive how Larissa had, in just a few sentences, shifted all the blame onto Garrick.

“Enough!” Zoltan’s voice boomed, cutting through their argument. “Garrick, if you dare to humiliate your cousin in front of all our guests, I will break your legs myself, and you can have those hundred wheelchairs!”

Garrick’s legs trembled.

Haskell then looked at Trevor and asked coolly “So, Uncle Trevor, do you still require an apology from Larissa?”

“But I was just trying to have a little fun with Haskell, and I get kicked for it…”

Before Garrick could finish, Trevor roared, “You fool! Have someone cancel that order and prepare a proper gift for your cousin!”

Haskell, however, shook his head, refusing to play along. “That won’t be necessary, Uncle Trevor. I have no interest in any gift from Garrick.”

Trevor’s face was a mask of humiliation.

Paxton’s family, who had witnessed the entire spectacle, looked just as grim.

“I was hoping to see Larissa get put in her place,” Vivica muttered under her breath, “but instead, Trevor’s family is the one eating humble pie! That girl is infuriatingly lucky!”

Chapter 254

Paxton’s expression was heavy. “I fear it’s more than just luck. Judging by Zoltan’s attitude, he has no intention of giving up on Haskell.”

Vivica was shocked. “You mean Zoltan actually believes Haskell’s legs can be healed?”

“In other words,” Paxton said, “Zoltan believes Larissa can heal Haskell’s legs and get him back on his feet.”

The realization filled Paxton with an unprecedented sense of dread. His only hope now was that Josette’s husband could successfully arrange that meeting with Zendar.

Finley and Honora were also disappointed that Larissa had once again wriggled out of trouble, but they still had their own plan in motion, waiting for Draven to make his move.

Just then-

“Well, well, Uncle Paxton, Aunt Vivica, you’re here too,” Larissa’s voice cut through their thoughts. “Where’s Aunt Josette? I don’t see her. Did she fail to get that meeting with Zendar for you and is too embarrassed to show her face?”

Before Paxton could respond, Zoltan spoke up. “Zendar will be attending the engagement party tonight. There’s no need to arrange a special meeting.”
