The Impossible Condition Novel Chapter 325

Silent Dreams Never Die — Author: John Miller 325

Chapter 325 A Dangerous Allure in the Hallway

After spending a little more time with Vanessa, Luke stood up to head downstairs.

Vanessa nodded obediently. “Bye, Uncle Luke.”

Luke smiled, ruffling her hair. “You’re such a sweetheart, Vanessa.”

Such a lovely niece–but seeing her so downcast, it was clear something was bothering her.

If Scarlett had upset Vanessa, then Luke decided he’d make sure Scarlett didn’t get off easy either.

With that thought occupying his mind, he didn’t notice Sabrina coming up the stairs until he was already on his way down.

“Luke,” came Sabrina’s soft voice.

Hearing his name spoken so gently, Luke felt a slight shiver. When he looked at Sabrina, his eyes instantly lit up. “Sabrina,” he replied, his ears turning pink.

Seeing his flushed cheeks, Sabrina recognized the signs of a shy crush.

Given her experience with men, she guessed Luke probably had feelings for her.

So she reached out and playfully tapped his forehead. “Look at you, all grown up now–quite the young man.”

Her teasing made Luke’s heart race.

He’d always admired Sabrina—she was beautiful, intensely focused whenever she played the piano, and her music genuinely moved him.

But until today, he’d kept his liking quiet, never imagining anything could happen between them.

Now, Sabrina had even touched him.

For a moment, Luke felt light–headed, as if walking on clouds.

He looked down, his face warm. “Sabrina, you’re always joking.”

Luke was younger than Sabrina. Seeing him blush because of her gave Sabrina a little thrill of satisfaction.

She smiled. “I mean it. You’ve really grown into a fine young man.”

As nice as the compliments felt, Luke couldn’t ignore one important fact–Sabrina was Vincent’s girlfriend.

So after that brief flutter of happiness, his expression turned serious again. “No matter how I look, I could never compare to Vincent in your eyes.”

Sabrina kept smiling. “You’re both very important to me, Luke.”

Luke paused, opening his mouth as if to ask something, but the words never came.

Noticing his hesitation, Sabrina didn’t press. Instead, she reached up and gently stroked his hair once more. “You’re a good guy, Luke. I really do like you.”

Her words carried a subtle weight, and her eyes held a warm, knowing gleam.

Before Luke could fully process what she meant, Sabrina had already continued upstairs.

Just watching her walk away was enough to leave him longing.

From the corner of her eye at the landing, Sabrina glanced back at Luke still standing below.

Seeing his dazed, captivated look, a quiet surge of satisfaction washed through her.

So many men were drawn to her–it felt undeniably sweet.

Once upstairs, she went straight to Vincent’s bedroom.

He was just changing out of his sleepwear when she entered.

Sabrina didn’t hesitate. She walked right over.

Hearing footsteps, Vincent turned. Seeing it was her, he continued buttoning his dress shirt. “Couldn’t sleep a bit longer?”

Sabrina stepped close, rising on her toes to smooth his collar.

She deliberately stood near–so near that if Vincent lowered his head just slightly, he’d brush her cheek.

“I thought you were heading to the office,” she said softly, “so I came to see you off. If I weren’t here, you’d probably struggle with your tie again.”

Sabrina usually helped Vincent with his tie.

A faint, fond smile touched her lips as she spoke.

Vincent looked down at her glowing face and couldn’t help but smile back.

Just then, a small voice came from the doorway. “Daddy? Sabrina?”

Both of them turned.

Vanessa stood there, her hair still loose, clutching that same stuffed animal.

Seeing the girl, Sabrina couldn’t help but think of what Maria had done to her the night before.

Truth be told, hearing Vanessa cry in pain had stirred a strange, dark excitement in Sabrina.

Seeing it was Vanessa, Vincent held out a hand. “Come here, let Sabrina fix your hair for you.”

Vanessa walked into the room, still holding her doll.

After Sabrina had gathered her hair into a neat ponytail, she said lightly, “All done.”

As Vanessa turned, the sleeve of the arm holding the doll rode up slightly, revealing a small cluster of faint bruises on her skin.
