Newman is free to attempt to use last night’s incident involving Serenity against us.
“The York family doesn’t fear anyone. So what if Serenity offended someone? The only thing that matters is that no one offends her or makes her angry. We’ll support her in resolving any issues that arise. She is the eldest daughter-in-law of the York family and the spouse of the future head of the family. She has the right to do as she pleases. Are you unhappy with that?”
“She has nothing to do with you, so keep your dissatisfaction to yourself! Don’t make such careless comments in my presence again, and don’t invite me to play cards with you in the future. I won’t play cards with nosy people like you who try to dictate my daughter-in-law’s actions.”
Tania ended the call and deleted the other person’s number.
“Who does she think she is? How dare she call my daughter-in-law meddlesome? She’s the real busybody here. Do I need her to instruct my daughter-in-law on how to behave?”
“Who was speaking ill of Serenity?” Liam inquired.
“Serenity attended the Dowling family banquet last night with Mrs. Stone, her aunt. What’s wrong with her accompanying her aunt? That woman assumed it meant that I have a poor relationship with my daughter-in-law. What does our relationship have to do with them? It’s none of their concern.”
“Mrs. Newman was biased and allowed Ms. Carrie to bully Ms. Camryn. Serenity couldn’t tolerate it and stepped in to help Ms. Camryn, but those women labeled her a busybody. Even if it wasn’t her business, what she did was morally right.”
“I’m proud and delighted to have a virtuous daughter-in-law. What does it matter to them? I’m furious! My good mood this morning has been completely ruined!”
Liam finally grasped what had transpired.
He quickly reassured his wife, “We can’t control what others say, so let’s avoid getting involved with them in the future. I also believe Serenity acted appropriately. Since her actions were justified, we should support her.”
“Ms. Carrie was terrible. How could she attempt to drug and harm her own blind sister? If Serenity hadn’t come to Ms. Camryn’s aid, her life would have been ruined by her own sibling. Mrs. Newman is no better. Although they are both her daughters, she allowed her younger daughter to hurt her older one. How can she sleep at night?”
As a mother herself, Tania treated her sons equally. She did not show favoritism toward Zachary simply because he was the eldest son and the family’s successor.
