“Nana chose a wife candidate for Callum. Didn’t you see her photo when you passed it to me?”
“I only glanced at it and don’t recall her face… Why would I remember her face or name if she’s not my wife candidate?”
He kept massaging her legs.
“It turns out Camryn is blind. Zachary, why did Nana choose a blind person for Callum? She picked me, a country bumpkin, for you, but at least I’m healthy. Meanwhile, she selected a woman from a wealthy family for Callum, but she’s blind. Plus, it seems the Newman family doesn’t treat Camryn well.”
Zachary replied softly, “Nana has her reasons. She chooses her granddaughters-in-law based on our characters.”
Grandma May’s suggestion for him to marry Serenity might stem from a simple reason: a fortune teller claimed that Serenity and he were destined to be husband and wife.
Now, Zachary believed those words. If given the opportunity, he would like to meet that fortune teller and inquire whether he and Serenity could be husband and wife in their next lives as well.
If the fortune teller were present, he might say, “You’re destined to be husband and wife only in this life. Don’t be too greedy. Focus on living your current life well before worrying about the next.”
A next life?
No one could confirm if there was indeed a next life.
People die when their time is up. Like a candle being extinguished, nothing remains.
No one knows if reincarnation exists. Those who did, or experienced it, are already gone, leaving no answers.
“That’s true. I suppose that’s something Callum will have to handle. Has he started yet?”
“I don’t think so, but he visits Josh’s office whenever he can. He’s probably asking Josh for help.”
“He’s only going to start taking action once he completes a background check on that Newman girl.”
“Did you also conduct a background check on me?” Serenity suddenly inquired.
