Chapter 993
Remy gazed intently at Elisa and remarked, “Purchasing a house is a significant decision that requires careful consideration. I invested a substantial amount in the villa, so it’s only natural that I want to modify it to suit my preferences. I can only feel truly comfortable here if I appreciate the design.”
Elisa recalled that her family had also engaged a renowned interior designer to customize the villa to their liking, which had allowed them to enjoy their time here over the years.
She replied with understanding, “You’re absolutely right. Since we’ll be neighbors in the future, why don’t you come in for a cup of tea?”
Remy accepted Elisa’s invitation and followed her and Serenity into the house.
Clive and his wife were still seated on the sofa in the living room. Audrey was present as well, anxiously inquiring about something from her daughter-in-law. When she heard her daughter speaking with an unfamiliar man, she glanced toward the door and saw her daughter and niece ushering a young man inside.
Clive noticed Remy and stood up, taking a few steps forward. He greeted Remy with a smile, saying, “It must be quite windy today to have brought you all the way here, Mr. Johnson.”
Remy chuckled. “Yes, only a strong wind could move me.”
The two men were acquainted but not particularly friendly.
FC & Co. partnered with York Corporation, so Remy, Zachary, and Josh were good friends both personally and professionally. However, since York Corporation and Stone Group were rivals, Remy and Clive were merely casual acquaintances, lacking any closeness.
Audrey had heard of Remy and had seen him from a distance once before, but they had never spoken directly, so she didn’t recognize him at first.
It was only after hearing her son’s greeting that she realized who Remy was.
“Hello, Mrs. Stone,”
Remy greeted.
Audrey politely accepted Clive and Elisa’s invitation to sit down. She smiled and encouraged him to take a seat.
“Sorry to interrupt,” he said.
Audrey laughed, “It’s no trouble at all.”
“Mr. Johnson is the one who purchased the Zimmers’ villa. He’ll be our new neighbor from now on,” she added.
Both Audrey and Clive were taken aback by this revelation. Clive smiled and remarked, “So it’s you, Mr. Johnson. You’re more informed than we are.”
He had heard that the special assistant at FC & Co. was similar to Josh, specializing in information gathering. Remy was seen as an ideal son-in-law candidate for the Houston family, much like the Bucham family.
“I bought Mr. Zimmer’s company,” Remy stated.
Clive suddenly understood.
No wonder Remy acted more swiftly than the Stone family; it was because he had acquired the Zimmers’ business.
The maid served pastries and tea.
Remy politely took a sip of tea but left the pastries untouched.
Serenity, being observant, noticed that Remy, like Zachary, wasn’t fond of sweets.
Remy didn’t stay long. He had only come to greet everyone after Elisa invited him in, knowing that they would soon be neighbors living very close to one another.
He declined the Stones’ invitation to stay for dinner and stood up to leave. Elisa took the initiative to see him out.
