Married at First Sight Chapter 989

Chapter 989
Serenity chuckled before giving Elisa a hug. She reassured her, “Don’t be upset, Elisa. I promise you won’t miss out on the next fun event.”
“Don’t hold me. Your man is glaring at me,” Elisa replied.
Elisa playfully nudged Serenity aside and turned to fetch the food from the kitchen.
As Serenity glanced at Zachary, he responded in a stiff tone, “Even if she is a woman, I don’t like that you hugged her. If you want to hold someone, you can hold me.”
Serenity leaned in and quickly planted a kiss on his cheek while pinching it. “Alright, alright. From now on, I’ll only cuddle with you. Now go wash your hands. I need to head to my aunt’s once you’re fed.”
Zachary complained like a man who was being neglected. “I have nothing to do, yet you won’t let me go with you. We haven’t attended an event together since we got married.”
Serenity raised an eyebrow and asked, “And whose fault is that?”
Zachary fell silent immediately. It was indeed his fault.
Had he not concealed his identity from her, they would have attended social events together long ago. Now, he found himself at home while she engaged in social interactions alone.
Despite his frustration, Zachary had to watch as his wife got into Elisa’s car and drove away, leaving him behind.
Standing outside the bookshop for a while, he finally remarked, “I feel like I’ve just been ditched by my wife, Mrs. Lane.”
Mrs. Lane, standing nearby, replied, “Sir, everything your wife is doing now is for you. You should be grateful.”
Serenity was close to Mrs. Lane. After Zachary revealed his true identity, Sam considered the situation and decided to allow Mrs. Lane to continue her responsibilities.

employment with Serenity.

“I don’t mind it at all,” Zachary assured, aware of his wife’s concerns. However, her background was of no consequence to him.

To Zachary, Serenity was more than enough. So what if she came from a humble family? Everyone experiences poverty at some point; not everyone is born in a big city.

“But your wife cares about it. She’s willing to learn and adapt to your social circle because she loves you. The journey ahead will be long and challenging for both of you. She wants to learn how to stand by your side.”

“We should fully support her.”

Being a wife in a wealthy family is no easy task. There are pressures and responsibilities that accompany the title of Mrs. York.

Serenity was motivated to learn for Zachary. Her efforts to become a capable wife only indicated her love for him. After all, who would change for someone else if they did not truly care?

“I worry that she might struggle to adjust. The last thing I want is for her to ask for a divorce, claiming we’re incompatible.”

Mrs. Lane responded, “You should have faith in yourself and in her, sir.”

After a lengthy silence, Zachary finally replied, “She can leave me if she wants, but the only way she can be single is if she becomes a widow.”

Mrs. Lane was left speechless.

It was fortunate that Serenity had already left; otherwise, Zachary’s harsh words might have sparked another argument.

Zachary only departed with his security team after having John’s car towed by the traffic police.

Back at the Stones’ residence, Serenity finally donned a gown chosen by her discerning aunt. Audrey had personally curated Serenity’s wardrobe.
