terrified. In my entire life, I’ve never been as afraid as I was after falling in love with you. I fear losing you. I fear that you’ll sever ties with me.”
Serenity yanked her hand away. “You’re afraid? You don’t appear to be afraid at all. All I know is that you’ve been lying to me. It’s no wonder I had that nightmare; it was God giving me a sign.”
“But I still chose to believe you—foolishly, I believed everything you said. I was so naive, a fool to be manipulated and deceived by you until now.”
“Seren…”
“I don’t want to talk to you right now.”
Serenity interrupted him and stood up, saying coldly, “I need to calm down and consider whether our marriage should continue.”
Then, she turned to leave.
In a state of anger, her emotions were in turmoil. There was no way she could have a rational conversation with him.
She longed to return home, back to her sister and Sonny, where she could heal her heart, which felt wounded by Zachary.
“Seren.”
Zachary quickly got up and followed her, growling as he walked. “I won’t divorce you. Don’t even think about a divorce!”
Serenity ignored him.
If he didn’t want a divorce, she could sue him for one!
After being deceived for so long, Serenity was enraged and genuinely wanted to end the marriage. They were mismatched, after all. He was the powerful young heir of the York family, while she was merely an orphaned owner of a small bookstore.
“Seren.”
Zachary reached out to grab her, but she spun around and aimed to slap his handsome face. However, just as her hand was about to connect with his cheek, she altered her path and struck him hard on the arm instead.
Simultaneously, her foot kicked his knee.
Zachary was caught off guard.
He was caught off guard and was brutally kicked by her. Pain twisted his handsome face. “Seren, if you want to calm down, you can do so in our house. I won’t say a word. I’ll just sit beside you and watch quietly, but you can’t leave!”
