As she munched on a piece of chicken, Serenity remarked, “You threw quite the tantrum, claiming I didn’t see you as family before I could even tell you. Just take a look in the mirror. You never mentioned that Mr. Bucham invited you out for drinks. It gave me nightmares.”

Zachary fell silent for a moment before responding, “I admit it’s my fault. Next time Mr. Bucham asks me out, I’ll bring you along. That way, you can stop me from drinking, and they won’t be able to pressure me.”

“They’ll just think you’re a henpecked husband.”

“Then let them think what they want. They’re single, so they can’t claim to be henpecked husbands even if they wanted to.”

Serenity chuckled at his response, amused by the banter.

For the most part, she stayed out of his affairs as long as Zachary didn’t engage in anything that might jeopardize his health.

Once she had satisfied her hunger, Serenity conducted a final check to ensure they had everything packed. The couple made sure nothing was left behind before heading out.

First, they dropped off their three pets and the car keys at Liberty’s place.

Upon their arrival, Liberty seized the opportunity to give them Christmas presents.

With Zachary at the wheel, he drove Serenity to the Yorks’ old residence for the holiday festivities.

Although Serenity had long known that Whitmore Mansion had been passed down through generations and was rich in history, she was still awestruck when she laid eyes on the old residence. The family had certainly lived lavishly in its heyday.

There were no skyscrapers, just charming buildings. The tall fence surrounding the estate was equipped with security cameras, and the security system was top-notch.

The manor featured pavilions, winding corridors, an artificial hill, and a pond. Entering the estate felt like stepping back in time.

“Zachary, you’d truly be a wealthy heir if you were born in that era.”

Zachary took Serenity on a stroll to show her around the residence. Smiling, he remarked, “I don’t need to be born in that era; otherwise, I wouldn’t have the chance to meet you.”

Technically, he was now a wealthy heir.

To humor Zachary, the Yorks returned to the old residence. The maids had either been given the day off or were working at Wildridge Manor, leaving no assistance at Whitmore Mansion. As a result, Zachary, along with his cousins and brothers, had to handle everything themselves.

Serenity smiled and said, “It’s fortunate that you’re so reliable in making money and maintaining this place. Otherwise, this historic structure might have collapsed. It would be a shame to lose such a piece of history.”

“Do you like it here?” he asked.

“Of course,” she replied.

As they interlocked their fingers, they continued down the corridor. “We could retire here when we grow old,” he suggested.

While Wildridge Manor was beautiful, it didn’t carry the same rich heritage as the old residence. As Serenity noted, the atmosphere transported them back in time.

The stunning views and serene surroundings made it an ideal spot for retirement.

Serenity smiled and said, “Absolutely.”

Tilting his head, Zachary lowered his chin and kissed her, savoring the tranquil moment.

During the holidays, the couple explored every corner of Whitmore Mansion, creating sweet memories together.

Zachary’s brothers and cousins felt uneasy witnessing the couple’s affectionate displays. Once the vacation ended, they hurried back to the city to avoid enduring more of the couple’s romance.

Grandma May hoped that the young couple’s loving relationship would prompt her grandsons to consider marriage, never imagining they would choose to escape instead. With a sigh, she said to Serenity, “Seren, you’re the oldest sister-in-law to…”

“Callum and the others, please help your brothers-in-law find dates if you know any nice girls,” she said.

Serenity responded with a smile, “Nana, they have their parents for that. They don’t need my help. Besides, they have you too. Let’s not rush the boys, Nana. It’s not their time yet. They’ll reach that milestone when they meet the right girl, so there’s no need to pressure them about marriage.”
