Chapter 748
Josh was at a loss for words.
Zachary and Serenity, walking ahead, were sharing sweet whispers.
Noticing that Josh and Jasmine were lagging behind, Serenity turned around and saw that the couple appeared to be in a heated discussion.
“Zachary, why do Mr. Bucham and Jasmine look like they’re arguing?”
Zachary glanced at his friend and replied casually, “No, Mr. Bucham has a good temperament.”
If the individuals whom Josh had previously intimidated were present, they would be taken aback.
If Josh’s temperament could be considered good, then there would be no one in the world with a bad one.
“Let’s not worry about them. Come on,” Zachary said, allowing Serenity to keep holding his arm. The couple was very close.
“Zachary, will your CEO’s wife be attending as well?”
“Why do you ask?”
“Oh, just curious. I’d like to meet her and see if I get the chance to talk with her.”
She knew she needed to befriend Mrs. York first before inquiring about her husband’s management skills.
Zachary replied calmly, “You’re a bit late. Our CEO and his wife left before you arrived. Every year, he departs after his speech, claiming that everyone will enjoy themselves more if he isn’t around.”
This was indeed true.
In previous years, Zachary had left right after delivering his speech.
A few of his brothers, along with Josh, would then take turns hosting the dinner.
“We missed them?” Serenity exclaimed, disheartened.
“Jasmine and I urged Drake to hurry, but we still arrived at 7:30 PM and missed them.”
“Was the invitation time you gave me incorrect? Or did you provide us with a different invitation to keep us family members from hearing your CEO’s speech?”
“That’s correct.”
Taking advantage of the good excuse provided by Serenity, Zachary felt relieved. It also spared him from having to come up with an explanation for the incorrect time on the invitation.
“Did you see your CEO’s wife?”
Zachary replied warmly, “I did. She’s stunning. As soon as she walked in, she became the most radiant woman in the room and completely captivated our boss.”
“Is she as lovely as Aphrodite?”
Zachary turned to her with a smile. “In his eyes, she’s even more beautiful than Aphrodite.”
Beauty truly is subjective. To Zachary, his Serenity surpassed the goddess of beauty herself.
Serenity chuckled. “That’s true. Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder. Since your boss adores her, he naturally sees her as the most beautiful woman.”
“Seren.”
Zachary leaned closer and whispered huskily in her ear, “In my eyes, you’re the most beautiful woman in the world. You look so heavenly tonight that I can’t look away. I’m starting to regret letting you come dressed to the nines; I want to keep your beauty all to myself.”
“Clothes maketh the man. I wore a new gown and light makeup. If my appearance didn’t improve significantly, it would be a waste of all the money you spent on the dress.”
Zachary kissed her cheek.
Serenity flinched and quickly pushed him away, whispering angrily, “Behave!”
It was only after they had grown intimate that Serenity realized just how passionate and bold he truly was.
