Married at First Sight Chapter 704

Chapter 704
Tania gazed at her son for a moment before breaking the silence. “You are in charge of your own life. I can only offer advice. I need to head back before your dad starts to worry. Are you and your wife coming home for New Year?”
“Didn’t Nana tell you? I’ll be returning to the old residence with Seren for New Year.”
“The old residence? Oh, you mean that mansion. No wonder Nana has been visiting there lately.”
It turned out her son intended to take Serenity back to Whitmore Mansion to celebrate the New Year. The mansion had weathered many changes and stood as a symbol of the former glory of the York ancestors.
“How long do you plan to maintain this charade?”
“I have it all figured out, Mom. I know what I’m doing. I’ll announce my marriage to Seren to everyone in Wiltspoon when the time is right.”
He could start planning the wedding.
Zachary envisioned a beautiful conclusion, but only God knew how reality would unfold. Tania replied, “Alright then, I’m off.”
“Drive safely. Let me know in advance when you plan to visit next time. Don’t frighten your daughter-in-law.”
Tania responded, “Don’t portray me as an evil mother-in-law. Serenity has the spirit to stand up for herself. I doubt I can intimidate her.”
Zachary fell silent before expressing his gratitude to his mother.
“Why are you thanking me?”
“Thank you for not criticizing your daughter-in-law.”
Tania fought the urge to kick him.
“I want you to have a good life and be happy. I can overlook her flaws if you love Serenity and she brings you joy. I would only gently correct her mistakes without nitpicking.”
The affection she received from the Yorks over the years had shaped her into someone more understanding than…

In her younger days, Tania was not mean-spirited. However, she noted that the couple had not married within the same social standing, which created a noticeable gap. She hoped Serenity would adapt for Zachary, perhaps by refining her etiquette and acquiring a few skills.

“Alright then, I have to go,” Tania said as she got into the car. She waved goodbye to her son and drove off.

Zachary watched his mother fade into the distance before heading back inside the house. Just then, his phone rang again. Pulling it out, he saw that it was Clive calling. Clive had called him during his first attempt to conceive with Serenity, and Zachary felt a surge of irritation when he checked his phone for missed calls after that moment. Of all the times Clive could have called, why did it have to be then?

If Clive could read Zachary’s mind, he would argue that he couldn’t have predicted the unfortunate timing.

“What do you want?” Zachary asked, attempting to be polite since Clive was his wife’s cousin. Still, it was difficult to adopt a friendly tone immediately.

“See you at the Grand Hotel at midnight. If I don’t see you there, I’ll come to your house,” Clive replied.

Zachary frowned. “Do I have to go?”

“What? Are you scared to see me?”

Irritated, Zachary retorted, “See you there!” It was frustrating that Clive was related to his wife!
