“I want you to have a good life and be happy. I can overlook her flaws if you love Serenity and she brings you joy. I would only gently correct her mistakes without nitpicking.”

Clive had called him during his first attempt to conceive with Serenity, and Zachary felt a surge of irritation when he checked his phone for missed calls after that moment. Of all the times Clive could have called, why did it have to be then?
If Clive could read Zachary’s mind, he would argue that he couldn’t have predicted the unfortunate timing.
“What do you want?” Zachary asked, attempting to be polite since Clive was his wife’s cousin. Still, it was difficult to adopt a friendly tone immediately.
“See you at the Grand Hotel at midnight. If I don’t see you there, I’ll come to your house,” Clive replied.
Zachary frowned. “Do I have to go?”
