Married at First Sight Chapter 557

Chapter 557
Crack.
The phone screen shattered upon hitting the ground.
Hank quickly bent down to retrieve the phone and, ignoring the damaged screen, surveyed the state of his home.
Jessica also activated the flashlight on her cell phone, and together they examined the condition of the house. Forget the lack of luxury decor; it was in worse shape than a shack.
“Hank, are we in the right house?”
Jessica still clung to a glimmer of hope.
Hank stepped inside and replied, “That’s impossible. My key wouldn’t unlock the door if it were the wrong house.”
“This is my home. What happened here? Where are my appliances? Is this all that’s left?”
With each glance, Hank’s expression darkened.
He stood before the dining table he had paid for.
A sudden realization struck him.
He understood everything.
It was Liberty.
“Liberty!”
He shouted as the thought crossed his mind.
“She vandalized my house!”
Hank was seething with anger.
Jessica quickly suggested, “Let’s call the police. They’ll arrest her and make her pay for the damages. She should at least cover the renovation costs after destroying your home like this.”
Renovation costs?
Hank wanted to call the police, but upon hearing Jessica mention the renovation costs, he abruptly ended the call.
“Why aren’t you calling? Is it because you can’t bear to? Do you still have feelings for her?” Jessica asked, her frustration boiling over as she saw him hang up right after dialing.
She had stopped renting her apartment and packed everything to move in with him, looking forward to living in a beautifully decorated home and showing off to her family.

The house turned out to be even worse than a shack. It wasn’t just a simple rain on her parade; it was a torrential downpour that soaked her completely, with the cold seeping in from all sides.

“We can’t call the police. Liberty was the one who paid for the renovation back then, probably over four hundred thousand. During the divorce, she asked me to reimburse her, but I refused.”

Hank’s eyes filled with hatred as he spoke resentfully, “She claimed she’d find a way to get her renovation fees back. I thought I wouldn’t have to pay, so I didn’t care what she would do. I assumed she might just move the furniture, but I never expected her to take down the drywall.”

Jessica was at a loss for words.

Though Hank didn’t call the police, he felt compelled to contact Liberty. However, she didn’t answer. After a moment’s thought, he suspected she had blocked his number, so he used Jessica’s phone to call her instead. She picked up.

“It’s me.”

Unable to contain his anger, Hank demanded in a stern voice, “Liberty Hunt, what is the meaning of this? You’ve destroyed my home!”

“It’s still standing. That’s how it looked when you first bought it,” she replied.

Liberty had just put her son to bed and was preparing to wash up and sleep when she received the call from her ex-husband. She stepped quietly out of the room to avoid waking her son, as her sister and brother-in-law had just left ten minutes earlier.

“You—”

“I told you, if you won’t refund me the renovation cost, I’ll get it back my way. I merely took back what I was owed for the renovation. It’s not your money anyway, so why are you angry?”
