Chapter 453
Josh sensed something significant had occurred as Zachary spoke through clenched teeth, his voice filled with rage.
“The Browns took Sonny, and when we found him, he was being abused by Hank’s nephew. Sonny is now in the hospital with a swollen face and damaged soft tissues. He was also in shock.”
Josh swore in disbelief. “What the hell! How can scumbags like the Browns still exist? They’re an embarrassment to humanity!”
“How’s Sonny?” Josh asked, concern etched on his face.
“His physical injuries will heal in a few days, but the mental trauma will take much longer to recover from.”
“Have you made that demon who abused Sonny pay for what he did? Do you want me to bring some people over to teach him a lesson? It’s inhumane to be so cruel to such a young child.”
Zachary paused for a moment before responding, “He’s just a ten-year-old boy. We called the police, but at his age, he’ll only receive a reprimand. His parents will be instructed to discipline him and provide compensation, but he won’t face jail time.”
“But his father beat him until his face was swollen.”
Allowing George to hit Matthew was merely seen as a father teaching his son a lesson, and it was considered none of their business.
“Damn! Even a ten-year-old can be so cruel? He’s bound to end up in prison someday.”
“Zachary, don’t worry. I’ll take care of this. I’ll have my people take action immediately to ensure they lose everything!”
Zachary replied apologetically, “I hope this doesn’t ruin your mood for your blind date.”
“Ms. Sox is Serenity’s best friend. If I make a bad impression this time, I’ll have more opportunities to meet her in the future. If we’re meant to be together, it will happen. If not, it’s pointless to force it.”
Although Josh was looking forward to the blind date with Jasmine, he was also quite
He was open-minded and believed in letting nature take its course. “The police officers are here, so I’ll head back to the ward,” he said. “Okay. Let me know if you need me. You know me—I’m a knight in shining armor ready to fight against injustice in this world!” Zachary, feeling a bit down, couldn’t help but laugh at Josh’s self-proclamation. “Isn’t it because you have a strong appetite for gossip?”
Josh replied, “Well… that’s true too.” “Go on with your blind date,” Zachary said before hanging up the phone.
Not in a rush to enter the café, Josh called his cousin, Julian Bucham, for assistance. They needed to uncover the Browns’ jobs and sources of income to cut them off completely, ensuring the Browns would lose everything. Since suppressing Waltham Electronics was an internal strategy of York Corporation, Josh kept that information from his cousin.
Julian had grown accustomed to Josh reaching out for help, as it allowed him to pry into Zachary’s private matters. It was a fair exchange since only a few were privy to Zachary York’s personal affairs. Once he had asked Julian for help, Josh informed his subordinates to begin suppressing Waltham Electronics.
After making the necessary arrangements, Josh entered the café with a rose held in his mouth. Jasmine had arrived earlier and was sitting at a window table, which meant she had seen him on the phone just moments before. This also meant she had witnessed him biting the rose while riding his bike. Jasmine thought, ‘Is he a dog? Why is he holding things with his mouth?’
When Josh walked in, Jasmine stood up and waved to him. Seeing her beckoning, he thought, ‘Damn it! I’m actually late!’ He hurried over, rose in hand.
