Chapter 446
“I didn’t interfere. Did you see me interfere?” Grandma May shot back.
In her eyes, she simply kicked them and did not intrude.
Mrs. Brown was left speechless by Grandma May’s denial.
“I believe you are too involved as a mother-in-law. Your daughter has her own family, yet she tries to control her younger brother and sister-in-law. She’s the one creating discord between them, isn’t she? How did you raise her? Do you hold a grudge against your in-laws? Is that why you wanted your daughter to marry into their family?”
Mrs. Brown was at a loss for words.
Mr. Brown interjected, “We’re Sonny’s grandparents. We miss him, so we just wanted to take him home with us for a while. Liberty made us look like kidnappers and even called the police!”
After Liberty called the police, the officers assessed the situation. Realizing it was a family dispute, they left after providing some advice.
They couldn’t assist Liberty in locating Sonny.
“Were you just picking Sonny up? You didn’t consult Liberty and took him away while he was crying. That’s kidnapping! You should consider yourselves fortunate that we’re only referring to you as kidnappers,” Mrs. Brown said.
Mr. Brown opened his mouth but couldn’t find the words.
Mrs. Lane went to fetch some ice for Liberty to apply to her face, deliberately ignoring Chelsea’s bruised and swollen features.
Mrs. Brown wanted to get ice for her daughter’s face too, but discovered there were no ice cubes left.
Mrs. Lane had given them all to Liberty.
The Browns recognized that while Grandma May was a fierce fighter, she was also elderly. Hence, they grew timid, fearing she might faint and blame them.
Mr. Brown cleared his throat and said, “Old lady, we’re also…
I am disheartened that Hank and Liberty have ended up in this situation. Although I scolded my son, they remain determined to proceed with the divorce. We are here today to discuss the terms of that divorce. Sonny is my only grandson who carries my last name, and we will never do anything to harm him. We were simply picking him up to spend time with him.”
What he suggested was to shift the focus from Sonny to the divorce discussions.
Grandma May gently patted the back of Liberty’s hand and reassured her, saying, “Seren and Zack went to look for Sonny. Don’t worry; everything will be alright.”
