Married at First Sight Chapter 420

Chapter 420
Serenity took a few steps forward just as the bedroom door swung open.
It wasn’t her room; it was Zachary’s.
He stepped out wearing warm pajamas and holding a glass of water, seemingly intending to pour himself a drink.
The couple unexpectedly ran into each other.
They found themselves face-to-face.
Zachary flicked on the light switch and asked Serenity, “Why aren’t you in bed?”
Feeling embarrassed, Serenity replied, “Your nana is snoring loudly, Zachary. I can’t get a wink of sleep.”
Zachary walked over to her room and opened the door to peek inside. Sure enough, he heard his nana’s loud snores, clearly indicating she was faking it. Quietly shutting the door, Zachary turned back to Serenity and asked, “How do you plan to sleep?”
“I was going to sleep with Mrs. Lane, but she’s fast asleep. I couldn’t wake her, and her door is locked from the inside. I can’t get in. I guess my only option is the sofa.”
Zachary went to pour himself a glass of water.
He noticed a pillow and a coat on the sofa.
“It’s pretty chilly tonight, especially with the rain. I can’t sleep with my feet exposed, so I was going to grab a pair of socks from my room. Zachary, we should buy a few duvets and a bed for the other guest room tomorrow.”
When they first moved in together, everything was separated. It never occurred to them to get a bed for the guest rooms. After Mrs. Lane arrived, Serenity bought a bed and wardrobe for her, but the other guest room remained empty. This left the lady of the house without a warm bed for the night.
“Don’t you have water in your room?”
Serenity asked casually. She had seen inside his room when she assisted him with his wash; he had everything he needed.
Zachary maintained a calm tone.

“Yeah, but it’s not safe to drink.”

“Oh,” Serenity replied.

She moved to sit on the sofa, observing Zachary as he poured a glass of water and headed back to his bedroom.

“Zachary,” she called out.

Stopping at his bedroom door, Zachary turned to her, his dark eyes locked onto hers. His thin lips pressed together as he waited for her to continue.

“Um… Do you have an extra duvet in your room?”

“No.”

“Um… Could you remove your bed linen for me to use for the night?”

“No.”

Serenity responded, “…are you even a man? Can’t you see that your wife has nowhere to sleep or a blanket to cover her?”

Zachary approached her.

After placing his glass on the coffee table, he turned back and placed his hands on her sides. His towering figure loomed over her, making him seem intimidating without even touching Serenity.

The dip in the collar of his dressing gown drew Serenity’s eyes as he leaned closer.

“You can’t determine if I’m a man just by looking. You need to try out the merchandise first to be sure,” he teased.

Serenity tore her gaze away from his chest and met his eyes for a moment before letting out an awkward laugh. “God knows what I say in the heat of the moment. You’re a man, a real man.”

He must be impotent if he weren’t a man.

Of course, Serenity would never say that; men feared being labeled impotent above all else.
