The people closest to them were aware that the two were married.
“Let’s just go with the flow,” Serenity said.
She didn’t actively chase after Zachary, but if he made a move, she wouldn’t pull away either. Her hesitation stemmed from a fear that he might not reciprocate her feelings, leading to potential heartbreak. If Zachary took the initiative, Serenity wouldn’t shy away, allowing their feelings to unfold naturally. This way, they could both fall in love, which would lead to the best outcome.
“Ant Swer!”
Sonny grew tired of playing alone, so he got up, walked over to Serenity, and sat on her lap.
“Sonny, don’t you want to play by yourself?” she asked.
“I miss Mommy,” he replied.
The little boy stood up on Serenity’s lap and wrapped his arms around her neck, exclaiming, “Sonny miss Mommy!”
Usually, when Liberty sent Sonny to Serenity, he could still see his mother around noon. However, today he hadn’t seen her since they parted that morning.
Sonny truly missed his mother.
Serenity hugged him tightly and said softly, “I’ll take you to pick up your mommy later, okay?”
“Okay,” he responded.
She kissed his little face and added, “Now, why don’t you play by yourself for a little while? I’ll take you to see Mommy when I’m done.”
Sonny looked reluctant, clinging to Serenity’s neck and refusing to let go.
Jasmine stood up, reached out her hand, and gently coaxed him, “Sonny, come here! Aunt Jas will take you out to play.”
After thinking for a moment, Sonny finally released his grip on Serenity’s neck, turned around, and opened his arms for Jasmine to pick him up.
“Seren, hurry up and finish your orders. When Mr. York arrives, you can take Sonny to Liberty’s office. I’ll run the store tonight,” Jasmine suggested before taking Sonny outside to play.
As Serenity’s dog spotted Sonny being carried away by Jasmine, it decided to follow them. “Jasmine, Snowball is trailing behind you.” The dog had pure white fur, prompting Serenity to name it Snowball. Jasmine paused to allow Snowball to catch up, and then the three of them headed out to play.
