Chapter 89
As Tristan scanned through the shelves, his eyes caught on something in a corner.
Moving naturally, he picked up a beautifully packed box of dark chocolate and put it in the shopping cart.
Genevieve happened to look up just then and saw him.
That was her favorite chocolate, and the last box at home had already run out.
Their eyes met, yet they didn’t say anything.
Tristan smiled. Seeing that, Genevieve couldn’t help but smile as well, her heart skipping a beat.
Something was wrong.
Something was terribly wrong.
Feeling as though she had truly lost her mind, she quickly pulled her gaze away.
Right then, a harsh female voice sounded behind them abruptly.
“Gosh, look who we have here. Isn’t that the famous Cen? What’s the matter? Have you switched careers and become a nanny now? Must be nice to have nothing better to do.”
Genevieve stopped in her tracks and turned around slowly.
Regina had her arms crossed as she looked at them with undisguised mockery.
She was wearing a Chanel matching tweed set and had flawless makeup on. But the resentment in her eyes just couldn’t be
concealed.
After dragging Genevieve’s name through the mud again and getting caught in a scandal, Regina had been locked away. In fact, she was supposed to stay behind bars for much longer, but the Sloane and the Landers families used every connection they could and got her released sooner.
She was truly like a piece of gum that Genevieve just couldn’t shake.
Regina’s gaze kept sweeping over the three of them. The mockery on her face deepened, especially when she saw Tristan pushing the shopping cart while Stella stood next to him like a good girl.
“I see you’re really enjoying yourself playing house with Ms. Whitfield, Mr. Hale. Aren’t you afraid of getting your hands dirty?” she jeered.
Every word she uttered was pointed, brimming with provocation.
Stella was so frightened by Regina’s fierce gaze that she shrank back a little.
Genevieve was about to say something, but Tristan beat her to it. He pushed the shopping cart and stopped beside Genevieve. Then, he wrapped an arm around her waist and shielded Stella with the other.
“Being a nanny is still more respectable than being a homewrecker,” said Tristan.
His words were a slap in Regina’s face.
She was so angry that her entire body shook.
“You-”
That was all she could say while pointing at Tristan.
Everyone in the social circle knew how many underhanded tricks she had pulled to get with Zachary.

Tristan turned his head a little, looking at Genevieve beside him as he said, “Come on. Let’s go get the paintbrushes.
Genevieve hummed in agreement. She then turned around and walked off with Tristan and Stella, wheeling the shopping cart to the stationery section.
The three figures gradually disappeared into the distance.
Regina was the only one left rooted to the spot. Her expression darkened, and she clenched her fists so hard that her nails pierced her skin.
“Genevieve! Tristan! Just you wait!” she thought.
Meanwhile, Genevieve, Tristan, and Stella arrived at the stationery section.
As Tristan pushed the shopping cart, he deliberately fell behind a little and watched the two of them pick out paintbrushes.
Stella was on her best behavior by then.
She stood on her tiptoes, trying her best to identify the plethora of brands and models on the shelves that she knew nothing about.
It was rare for Genevieve to be so patient. She pointed at a row of brushes and said, “A beginner should start with this. This is too hard. That tends to split. This isn’t very good at absorbing water.”
Stella was dazed by Genevieve’s words, but she kept nodding.
This was the first time she realized this bad woman could truly shine in certain areas. Just as Tristan had said, she was striking enough.
