Chapter 86

Tristan placed the bowls in the kitchen sink. As he walked past Genevieve, his fingers accidentally grazed the back of her hand. The scorching heat lasted only for a moment before they separated.

Tristan said, “You really have ways to deal with that little troublemaker.”

Genevieve jolted as if she had been electrocuted and pulled her hand back, snapping, “Knock it off.”

Just then, the doorbell rang, followed by the sound of someone unlocking the door with their fingerprint.

Hannah walked in with a stack of documents. “Gen, I need you to sign this sponsorship contract immediately—”

She stopped mid–sentence as soon as she saw what was happening in the kitchen.

The CEO of URI Corporation, the man who was rumored to be cruel, heartless, and aloof with women, was standing by the sink, washing the dishes elegantly. Genevieve, on the other hand, was standing next to him, looking a little awkward.

“Gosh, our great artist is more and more like a devoted wife and a loving mother now. Looks like you’re getting the hang of being a mother,” Hannah teased.

“Stop right there. I have no interest in being that little troublemaker’s mother,” said Genevieve.

She picked up the documents and walked toward the study.

Tristan paused a little in the middle of washing the dishes, and his lips curled into a barely noticeable smile.

Hannah, too, smiled as she looked at Genevieve’s back.

It felt as though a miracle might happen soon, and some long–dormant feelings might bloom within Genevieve.

The sunlight was perfect that afternoon, so Genevieve moved her easel out onto the balcony.

The two troublemakers‘ battlefield had been cleaned up, so she could finally carry on with her own creation.

Genevieve gave it her undivided attention. As she painted, it seemed as though the brush had a soul of its own in her hand.

But a moment of peace and quiet was always short–lived.

Stella appeared again. Her eyes were still swollen, but she was no longer as dejected as she had been earlier.

She saw that Genevieve was painting and noticed that the rows of paint next to her looked expensive.

Pretending to be curious, she went closer to her and said, “Wow, Genevieve. Your painting is so pretty.”

Genevieve didn’t even bother paying her any attention.

Seeing that Genevieve wasn’t bothered, Stella made her way to the other side of the easel and pretended to trip over something. Once she let out an exaggerated scream, she knocked over the side table with the paints on it.

The palette that had been filled with indigo was knocked onto the ground, shattering instantly. The paint splashed all over the ground. Most of it was on the floor, but a small part of it splattered right onto Genevieve’s white shirt.

A big patch of striking indigo quickly started to spread across her chest, making her look like a blue fairy in blossom.

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean it!” Stella quickly forced a couple of tears out of her eyes, masterfully putting on an act.

“I really didn’t mean to do it… Don’t be angry, Genevieve,” she said in tears.

Meanwhile, she secretly observed Genevieve’s reaction out of the corner of her eye.

This time, Stella had ruined Genevieve’s clothes and her painting. She thought Genevieve must surely be angry this time. As

long as Genevieve got angry and lashed out at her, she could tell on her to her mother, saying that the bad woman had

abused her.

But once again, Genevieve’s reaction was out of her expectations.

Genevieve didn’t get mad. Her expression didn’t show the slightest trace of anger.

She looked down, glancing at the piece of messy blue on her chest.

Then, she calmly looked up at Stella, who was pretending to cry.

Rather than getting mad, Genevieve smiled instead. That sight made Stella grow inexplicably panicked.

Genevieve bent over. She ignored the cracked palette on the ground and dipped her finger into the other palette that was still in perfect condition.
