Chapter 85

Stella believed Genevieve, in particular, would certainly be exasperated and would make a fool out of herself in front of

Tristan.

Genevieve turned around with two bowls in her hands. She didn’t seem to have noticed anything. Her hand paused for a moment as she served the oatmeal. It still looked smooth and creamy, but the steam rising from it carried a subtle hint of saltiness.

It could fool her eyes, but it couldn’t fool her nose.

It was a childish trick, but Genevieve didn’t plan to expose Stella. Some lessons needed to be learned so one would remember

them.

After Genevieve served two big bowls of oatmeal, she took out a bowl bigger than those two and filled more than half of it. She then pushed the bowl to Stella and put on a gentle smile.

“I noticed that you didn’t eat much yesterday, little princess. You must have a good appetite today, then. Come. Have more. You’re still growing now, after all.”

The smug smile on Stella’s face stiffened in an instant.

This wasn’t how things were supposed to play out. Why would this bad woman serve her a bowl as well–and a big one at that?

As Stella looked at the warm bowl of oatmeal in front of her, the color drained from her face.

“I–I don’t feel hungry in the morning,” she stuttered, trying to reject the offer.

“You’re not hungry?” Genevieve raised an eyebrow, and her smile grew wider as she continued, “How could that be possible? I specially cooked the oatmeal longer just for you. Look at how smooth and creamy this is. Look at how delicious the apple slices look. All my efforts will go down the drain if you don’t have some.”

She held a spoonful of oatmeal to Stella’s lips as she said, “Here, I’ll feed you.”

Genevieve’s tone was so gentle that it sent a shiver down Stella’s spine. She had a feeling that Genevieve might have a million. ways to make her swallow it, even if she refused to have some.

Stella was caught between a rock and a hard place.

She wanted to cry, but she had no tears left to shed. Left with no choice, she bit the bullet and took a bite of the oatmeal.

In the next second, an indescribably terrifying saltiness exploded in her mouth.

Stella’s face was scrunched up in pain, and tears instantly streamed down her face.

She wanted to spit it out, but when she met Genevieve’s smiling eyes, she didn’t have the guts to do it.

She could only force herself to hold back the urge to throw up and swallowed the oatmeal. She immediately felt her entire

throat burn.

“How is it? Is it nice?” Genevieve asked, still smiling gently.

“I–it’s delicious…”

Stella had to squeeze the last two words out through gritted teeth. Her voice shook.

“If it’s delicious, have more then,” said Genevieve.

She nodded happily and pushed the spoon into Stella’s hand.

When Tristan walked out of his room, he witnessed a strange scene at the dining table.

Stella had tears in her eyes as she held the big bowl, looking as though she were being punished.

Genevieve, on the other hand, rested her chin on her palm, watching with calm enjoyment.

Tristan walked up to the table, and his gaze caught on the oatmeal. Everything instantly became clear to him.

He said nothing. He simply picked up his bowl of oatmeal and took a bite elegantly. Then, he frowned a little before swallowing it calmly.

After he put his bowl down, he looked at Stella, whose face was all wrinkled in misery.

Then, he said calmly, “Looks like we’ll have to make it to your liking the next time and stock up more salt.”

As expected, the two adults were in cahoots, and Stella felt they were both laughing at her. She couldn’t hold it in any longer. She shoved the bowl aside and burst into tears before running back to her room.

Genevieve pursed her lips. She was about to tidy up the mess, but Tristan beat her to it and picked up the two bowls that were laced with “poison“.
