Chapter 83
Genevieve walked out of the kitchen with a glass of red wine in her hand. The scene unfolding before her could only be described as a disaster.
Stella was throwing a tantrum on the ground, while Tristan was sipping on his tea calmly. He even increased the volume slightly when Stella’s cries became too noisy, his face expressionless the whole time.
Genevieve decided they were both utterly childish. It was only natural that the child was childish, but it turned out the adult
was even worse.
Tristan noticed her looking at them. Turning around, he met the undisguised amusement in her eyes. His gaze darkened. Setting his cup of tea down, he got up.
Genevieve thought he was finally going to compromise.
But to her surprise, he walked up to the TV and pressed the power button instead. The screen instantly went dark, and the room fell into silence.
Stella stopped crying and looked up in shock.
Then, Tristan marched right into his room with the TV remote.
Genevieve and Stella were left alone in the living room.
The little girl looked dumbstruck as she sat on the ground.
It seemed she hadn’t expected that he would pull such a move, so she was stunned for half a minute. She couldn’t believe the big bad guy had taken the TV remote with him.
She leaped off the ground, shooting daggers at Tristan’s tightly shut door, then glared at the gloating Genevieve with hostility. Finally, she stormed into the guest bedroom and slammed the door once again.
Shaking her head, Genevieve took another sip of her red wine.
How boring.
The situation in the apartment became rather peculiar over the next two days.
Stella had marked Tristan as her number one enemy. Whenever he was around, she would kick up a storm. She would deliberately clang the cutlery together when they were eating and stomp her feet as she ran past him.
Tristan, on the other hand, was as calm as ever. He simply turned a blind eye, no matter what trick Stella pulled.
Stella felt like she was punching air. It nearly drove her crazy.
Genevieve simply watched the drama unfold without participating.
She was almost done with her new painting. Since she couldn’t stay in the living room anymore, she moved her easel and all her art supplies to the apartment’s spacious balcony.
In the evening, the afterglow of sunset painted the sky in magnificent hues of red and orange. The slightly chilly night breeze brushed against her long hair.
Far away from the two childish troublemakers‘ battlefield, Genevieve finally calmed down.
She stood before the large easel with a brush in her hand, drawing the last stroke of color on the canvas.
As she finished, she let out a deep sigh of relief, feeling a sense of contentment that she had never felt before.

She put down the brush and leaned against the railing, letting the night breeze sweep her exhaustion away.
Right then, her phone vibrated in her pocket.
She took it out and saw a text from Greg.
“Gen, congratulations on the great success of your Rebirth series. I’m proud of you.”
Genevieve’s lips curled into a faint smile as she tapped on the screen lightly, replying, “Thank you.”
Soon, another text from Greg came in.
“I have a small collaborative art exhibition at the gallery next Saturday. I’d like to invite you to join me and showcase your
artwork.”
Genevieve was just about to reply when Tristan’s voice suddenly sounded behind her.
“Who’s texting you that they’ve got you smiling from ear to ear?”
