Chapter 79

Genevieve hung up right after she was done talking.

Hannah was so worked up that she looked at Genevieve and slapped her thigh, exclaiming, “Good job shutting them down, Gen! You can’t ever spoil people like them!”

Genevieve didn’t say anything. She just turned and looked out the window.

The International Perfume Summit in Mylin was just around the corner. She had no time or interest in watching her enemy’s desperate struggle.

What she wanted to do was shine on the global stage once again.

In the following days, Genevieve completely immersed herself in her work.

Not only did she complete the painting, “Rebirth“, which had stunned Greg, but she also kept updating the perfumes in the Rebirth perfume series as well. The perfume she had launched earlier was the work of the new perfumers that she had hired. The products released later, however, were her personal work.

The servers were overwhelmed and crashed within three minutes after her new product was launched.

Out of the top ten trending topics, Genevieve occupied three spots.

The Rebirth series was no longer a simple product. Countless people online who were struggling in adversity felt like the scents resonated with their own stories, finding connection and strength through them.

The series also generated unprecedented sales in the country’s high–end handcrafted perfume industry.

Yet what was even more important was the gold–embossed invitation from Calvoria.

“The committee of the International Perfume Summit officially invites Ms. Genevieve Whitfield, designer of the Rebirth series, to participate in the exhibition as a special guest and showcase her works.”

This was the first time that a perfumer from Ardonia had received this highest honor as an independent designer. The news sent shockwaves through the entire industry.

Hannah was so excited that she could barely string a sentence together as she looked at the digital copy of the invitation.

“Gen, we’re going to the perfume capital of the world! You’re going to shine in front of the entire world!”

Genevieve stood in front of the huge floor–to–ceiling window, a faint smile playing on her lips.

This was just the beginning.

It didn’t matter that Zachary had wasted a year of her life. Now, she was going to take back everything that belonged to her and more.

After the excitement wore off, Hannah suddenly seemed to have thought of something.

Her expression grew serious as she said, “Oh yes, Gen. Sylvia seems to have gone quiet lately.”

Genevieve took a sip of her coffee and said, “It’s just the calm before the storm.”

“That’s what I thought,” Hannah said with concern. “I had someone look into it and found that Sylvia has been in frequent contact with some shady people.”

She added, “The Lambert family may have fallen, but a fallen giant still casts a long shadow. She should still have some money. I’m afraid she might get desperate and hurt you, especially now that you’re at the peak of your career and in the spotlight because of this exhibition. It’s the easiest time for things to go wrong.”

Genevieve put down her mug of coffee and turned around. “She’ll definitely make a move against me.”

Shocked, Hannah asked, “Then, why are you still-”

“I want her to do it,” said Genevieve.

She walked up to her easel. The painting had already been completed. Light and darkness intertwined on the canvas. Destruction and rebirth coexisted on the canvas, showcasing breathtaking power.

Genevieve reached out, her fingers brushed over the streak of gold that pierced through the darkness.

“I don’t like having loose ends. I’ve prepared a huge present for her. If anything, I’m more afraid that she won’t have the guts to come and accept it,” she added.

As Hannah looked at Genevieve’s icy profile, she suddenly felt like all her worries had been for nothing.

Genevieve was no longer a pushover. Anyone who had the guts to piss her off had better be prepared to get burned to a crisp by her.

Sylvia had better not come. Otherwise, she would suffer a fate a hundred times worse than that of her foolish son.
