Chapter 66

Genevieve’s eyes widened at the names of the toxins.

Based on the information Kay shared with her, these toxins were produced after refining the rare medicinal herbs the Lamberts had smuggled back then.

At the end of the list were the abbreviations of the few companies that had purchased the toxins.

One of them was “S.P.“, which stood for “Sloane Pharmaceuticals“.

Over the past 30 years, they had managed to transform themselves from accomplices in a smuggling case into a well–known pharmaceutical company.

The pieces of the puzzle were coming together. They were linked to the smuggling case from back then!

Raymond must have known something. That was likely why they killed him using the same toxins they created.

Genevieve’s phone rang at that moment, and a foreign number flashed across the screen.

As she accepted the call, a gentle, clear male voice came from the other end of the line.

“Gen, it’s Greg Sanders.”

Genevieve’s heart sank. He had reached out to her before she even approached him.

“What’s wrong?”

“I want to talk to you about your mother, Zoe Yates.” Greg’s voice remained gentle as he continued, “I can tell you about the emerald bracelet as well.”

Genevieve’s grip on her phone tightened until her knuckles went white.

It seemed that while she was investigating the matter, Greg hadn’t been sitting idle either.

She merely answered, “Where do you want to meet?”

Half an hour later, Genevieve sat in the VIP tea room at Echo Art Studio. The room was decorated in a vintage style, and the scent of tea drifted through the air.

Greg brewed a cup of tea for her, which smelled fragrant and clear.

Dressed in a plain white suit, he looked handsome and had an elegant air about him.

“Gen, have some tea.”

Genevieve didn’t touch her cup of tea. She looked at him and cut straight to the chase. “Does Dr. Howell work for you?”

Greg’s grip on his cup shook. He looked up at her, surprise flashing across his eyes. He quickly regained his composure.

“Yes, he does.”

Genevieve couldn’t believe he had admitted it so easily.

She held her breath. “Why did you tamper with Mr. Lambert Senior’s medical records? Is his death linked to you?”

“Yes, and no.” Greg put his cup down. “I tampered with his medical records, but it wasn’t to cover up my crimes. I needed to buy time.”

“What do you mean?”

Greg looked at her. “I was waiting for you to investigate the Sloane family and the origins of the emerald bracelet. That way,

He took something out of his pocket. Gently placing it on the table, he pushed it toward Genevieve.

It was an old, yellowed photograph. It showed a woman with delicate, elegant features. The woman was none other than Zoe.

Beside her was a young man with defined features. His gaze was filled with respect and admiration as he looked at her.

He was Greg’s older brother.

Genevieve stared at the photograph.
