You Chose Her, so I Married Better Chapter 60

Chapter 60

“An outsider?” Tristan scoffed coldly. He tightened his grip slightly, drawing a grunt of pain from Zachary.

“I’m your half–brother–I’m part of this family too. How could you call me an outsider?” He bent down slightly and said in a low voice, “Would you rather I show all these guests how pitiful the mighty heir of the Lambert family really is?”

Zachary’s expression grew even more bitter.

Genevieve couldn’t be bothered to pay any more attention to them.

Raymond’s two grandsons were causing trouble for him even after his death. Genevieve genuinely pitied him.

However, since he had passed away, it was time for everything to end.

She stepped around the fighting brothers and left.

The day after the funeral, Lambert Group held a shareholders‘ meeting in the conference room on the top floor.

“Zachary, get the hell out of Lambert Group!” one of the older directors shouted, slamming his hand on the table angrily. “Our stock price crashed because of you, and now, even Mr. Lambert Senior is gone. What right do you have to be the CEO?”

“Exactly! We don’t want you!”

“Lambert Group can’t be left in the hands of a man as useless as you!”

“You… You ungrateful pricks!” Zachary roared. “I was the one who made all of are today!”

“We only want someone who can actually lead Lambert Group to glory!”

At that very moment, the heavy double doors of the conference room were slowly pushed

open.

Tristan walked in, followed by his team of lawyers. His powerful presence immediately made the whole room go

silent.

Everyone kept their mouths shut–except Zachary, who leapt up as if he had just seen a ghost. “What the hell are you doing here?”

Tristan ignored him. He walked directly to the head of the table and tossed an envelope onto

the table.

“I object,” he said mildly.

One of the shareholders frowned. “Mr. Hale, this is Lambert Group’s internal matter-

“Not anymore.”

One of Tristan’s lawyers stepped forward and announced coldly, “Before he passed, Mr. Lambert Senior had already transferred 15% of Lambert Group’s shares to Mr. Hale. That, combined with the 30% of shares that he holds as a proxy on behalf of Ms. Whitman, means Mr. Hale now holds 45% of Lambert Group’s shares. As of now, he’s the company’s biggest shareholder.”

Shortly after Genevieve had stormed out of Tristan’s office the day before, he had received an

email from her lawyer about the shares.

The entire meeting room erupted in a frenzy.

Zachary felt like all his strength had been sucked dry. He stared at Raymond’s familiar signature on the share transfer agreement and collapsed into his seat.

He had still lost. He had lost terribly.

Not only had he lost Lambert Group, but he had also become one of Tristan’s puppets with

zero autonomy.

At the courthouse, the official stamp landed on two divorce certificates -one for Genevieve,

and one for Zachary.

Genevieve took it and read through it before tossing it into her bag.

She turned around and met Zachary’s bloodshot eyes.

“Zachary, from now on, we don’t owe each other anything.”

She turned to leave without another look back, severing ties to her ridiculous marriage for

good.

Soon, night fell. In a dim bar, Zachary knocked back glass after glass of strong liquor.

Suddenly, a slender figure ran over and rushed into his embrace.

“Zachary!” she called out as she sobbed.

It was Regina. She had sneaked away from home, where she had been suffering for the last few

weeks.

“Zachary, you’re the only one who can help me! Please help me out. Please!”

Zachary looked at her through heavy–lidded eyes.

The woman in front of him was crying and looking at him through wide, pitiful eyes, yet there wasn’t the slightest hint of sympathy in his eyes.

He helped her to her feet, saying, “Regina, don’t cry.”

He gently wiped her tears away.

The Sloane family was useless now, but Regina wasn’t.

He said quietly, “Regina, listen to me. Agree to the marriage for now so you can appease I’ll find a way to save you.”

them.

Meanwhile, Genevieve had already moved into a new apartment that she had asked Hannah to help her buy a long time ago.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

She frowned slightly and peeked through the peephole, only to see an empty corridor. However, a parcel lay on the ground. There was no information about the sender on it.

Her guard immediately went up. She put on a pair of gloves before carrying the box into her

apartment.

Nestled between layers of bubble wrap, a black pen drive lay inside the box.
