Everyone in their circle from back then knew that Greg had pursued Genevieve for years, she had never agreed.
Things only ended after he went overseas for his studies.
“Congratulations, Greg,” Genevieve said with a smile. Her tone was polite and distant.
but
Greg looked at her. His eyes softened with worry. “Have you not been resting well? You’re still the same as before–you never know how to take care of yourself.”
His words made Genevieve feel slightly uncomfortable. She wanted to find an excuse to change the topic, but another man’s voice rang out from beside her without warning.
“Aren’t you going to introduce us?”
Tristan had suddenly appeared by her side.
He had changed into a black tailored suit that made him look even more regal than usual.
His strikingly handsome face remained expressionless. His gaze was inscrutable as he studied Greg calmly.
Greg’s smile faded slightly as he looked at Tristan.
The atmosphere instantly grew charged with a subtle tension.
Genevieve could feel her headache getting worse. Forcing out a stiff smile, she said, “This is my friend, Greg Sanders. And this is Tristan Hale. He’s… also a friend of mine.”
Tristan smirked when he heard that. Extending a hand toward Greg, he said, “Hello, I’m
Tristan Hale.”
Friend?
Last night, the heartless wild kitten had devoured him completely, but now, she said he was just a friend.
Greg reached out and shook Tristan’s hand politely. “Please feel free to look around. I have some clients to attend to.”
Once he left, Genevieve let out a sigh of relief.
Tristan said, “I thought you weren’t coming.”
Genevieve finally remembered that Tristan had invited her to visit an art exhibition before.

She never thought it would turn out to be Greg’s exhibition.
After what happened the night before, Genevieve had no idea how to face Tristan.
She dragged Hannah away as she said, “Something came up at the studio. Bye.”
Then, she left without looking back.

Meanwhile, after Greg walked away, he headed to a conspicuous corner of the gallery. His
smile faded, replaced by a look of cold indifference.
He called someone and said quietly, “Tristan is here.
He listened to a muffled reply from the other end of the line.
Greg looked through the crowd, his eyes landing directly on Genevieve, who was still dealing with Tristan. His gaze was dark and unreadable.
“Don’t worry. She can’t escape,” he said coldly. “I’m going to get my hands on everything that Genevieve’s mother left behind.”
That night, Zachary was in his office on the top floor of Lambert Group. His eyes were
bloodshot.
Regina’s scandal was like a stone thrown into a lake, triggering wave after wave of new problems.
The Sloanes had forced her into a marriage alliance and pulled plenty of strings to stop her
from landing in jail.
Lambert Group’s stock price had been falling nonstop over the last three days, and its cash flow was on the verge of collapsing. The company received countless calls from the bank every day, reminding them about their debt.
Zachary didn’t have any other tricks up his sleeve.
Finally, he called the last number on his list.
Half an hour later, Liam appeared in his office.
He wasted no time in placing a document in front of Zachary.
“Mr. Lambert, Mr. Hale said that he’ll save Lambert Group if you sign this document.”
Zachary snatched the document. After skimming through it, he trembled in anger and threw

the piece of paper onto the ground.
“He can dream on!”
It was a share transfer agreement.
Tristan wanted him to transfer 30% of Lambert Group’s shares to Genevieve for free.

It was clearly a form of repayment for everything that Genevieve had gone through the past
year.
Liam picked the document up expressionlessly. “If that’s the case, please go to someone else for help.”
Then, he turned to leave.
“Stay right there!” Zachary roared. A vein was pulsing in his forehead.
He knew that Tristan was the only one who could save Lambert Group.
He knew it was utterly humiliating and that Tristan was taking advantage of the situation. Still, he didn’t have any other choice.
After a long pause, Zachary finally collapsed into his chair, drained of all energy.
“I’ll sign it.”
He couldn’t be the one who destroyed the Lambert family. At the very least, until he could come up with another solution, he had to do whatever Tristan wanted.
