Chapter 56
The next day, a blinding streak of sunlight shone through the gap in the curtains, falling onto
Genevieve’s face.
Her head felt like it was about to explode.
She was familiar with the dull, pounding headache of a hangover. Letting out a groan, she opened her eyes slowly.
The next instant, she froze.
Her mind was in utter chaos. As she sat up, the silk quilt fell off her, revealing red marks along her collarbones. Her eyes fell on the bed, which was an absolute mess, and then on a man’s shirt tossed not too far away on the carpet.
Memories from the night before flooded into her mind.
“Crap,” she thought to herself. “Did I sleep with Tristan again?”
Her face immediately paled.
What had she done?
She was so embarrassed that she wished the ground would swallow her whole.
She couldn’t stay there any longer. With that thought, she tossed the quilt off her and got out of bed barefoot, trying her best to ignore how sore her body was.
She picked up her clothes as quickly as she could and slipped them on in a frenzy.
Then she grabbed her bag and walked toward the door without looking back.
She didn’t see the note written on the hotel notepad on the bedside table.
In a man’s bold handwriting, the note read, “Sleep in. I went to get us breakfast.”
Ten minutes later, Tristan entered holding an insulated food container.
He had gone to the south side of the city on purpose to get chicken noodle soup from a well-
known restaurant.
“Gen, I’m-”
He stopped abruptly when he saw the empty room.
Genevieve’s warmth and her unique scent still lingered on the sheets, but she was nowhere in

sight.
Tristan’s eyes landed on the bedside table.
The glass of warm water that he left for her was untouched, and the note he wrote was still
there as well.
After a long pause, he finally chuckled helplessly. “What a cruel wild kitten.”
When Genevieve finally reached Blossom Studio, Hannah stared at her in shock.
“Gen, why are you so pale?”
Genevieve was unmistakably exhausted.
Hannah hurriedly poured a glass of warm water and offered it to her. She asked in concern, Did you drink too much last night? Do you want to rest for a bit?”
“I’m okay. I’m just a little hungover.”
Genevieve took the glass from her. The chill in her fingertips brought her thoughts back to
reality.
She avoided Hannah’s questioning gaze and forced herself to keep her voice steady.
“Go get ready. We’re going to Greg Sanders‘ exhibition.”
“What? Now? But you—”
“Yes, now,” Genevieve said, cutting her off.
All she wanted was to find a way to keep herself busy so she could ignore the mess of memories clouding her brain.
If she kept thinking about the previous night, she would go insane.

The exhibition was held in the best art gallery in the city center.
Hannah followed Genevieve into the gallery. She couldn’t help but feel uneasy as she looked at Genevieve, who had been silent since they walked in.
Genevieve had suddenly vanished into thin air last night. Hannah only received a text from her just as she and the others were about to go insane from searching for her.
Genevieve’s gaze swept over the gallery before landing on the painting that stood out the

most. It was right in the center of the hall.
The painting was titled “Intertwined”.
Genevieve suddenly recalled some distant memories.
“Gen, long time no see.” A clear, gentle male voice called out from behind her.
Genevieve froze slightly before turning around.
Greg was standing right behind her. He hadn’t changed one bit.
Handsome, talented, and gentle, Greg had been the subject of affection for plenty of young girls back then.
