“How did you get this evidence?”
All of a sudden, a tall figure stood in front of Genevieve, forming a wall between her and the
reporters.
Tristan took a microphone from his bodyguard. “Hello, everyone. I’m the CEO of URI Corporation, Tristan Hale. We’re also Blossom Studio’s official business partner for the Rebirth series. URI Corporation won’t tolerate this incident. We’ll work with Ms. Cen to get to
the bottom of this.”
URI Corporation?
The reporters stared in shock.
Was this man really the mysterious CEO of URI Corporation, the company that had invested in several high–end Eurian brands?
Genevieve’s eyes widened.
Was Tristan the CEO of URI Corporation?
So it was him! All this time, he was the one who had been sending her flowers and anonymous tips? He somehow even knew her whereabouts?
Then why did he deny it before?
Was he teasing her on purpose?
Genevieve began to grow angry at that thought.
A sharp reporter immediately picked up on the main point of Tristan’s statement. “Mr. Hale, how are you related to Ms. Cen? Are you protecting a business partner, or are you protecting your lover?”
“Mr. Hale, even though Ms. Whitfield has already decided to get a divorce from Mr. Lambert, she’s still your sister–in–law. Don’t you think this is inappropriate?”
“Could you tell us if you and Ms. Whitfield are the reason for the Lambert family’s current predicament?”
Tristan turned to look at Genevieve.
He opened his mouth and was about to say something when Genevieve cut him off coldly.

“We aren’t close,” she said.
She pushed him away and walked toward the break room backstage with bodyguards escorting
her.
Tristan watched her walk away, bitter mirth flashing in his eyes.
He knew she was angry.
When Genevieve reached the break room, she slammed the door shut behind her. She felt as though she had been wrung dry and completely drained of energy.
She leaned against the door as her breathing became erratic.
Anger, grievance, and an inexplicable irritation surged through her. It was enough to drive her
crazy.
Tristan’s low voice sounded outside the door. “Gen, open the door. Let me explain.”
“Go away!” Genevieve shouted.
“I can explain.”
He stubbornly persisted, saying, “I never told you who I was because I was being targeted by some rivals. I only managed to settle everything yesterday. I didn’t want to drag you into my
mess.”
Genevieve was still furious.
She hated lies. After all, lies were always followed by betrayal.
Yet the flames of fury blazing through her died out just as quickly as they had appeared.
Genevieve froze.
What was she doing?
Why was she so angry because of someone like Tristan?
Since when had she become so short–tempered?
And why was she letting a man ruin her peace?
She must not have been thinking straight.
Genevieve relaxed her tightly clenched fists, revealing palms that now sported a few deep crescent–shaped marks left by her nails.
Chapter 53
She was being utterly ridiculous.
She took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. Eventually, she managed to force down the turbulent emotions in her chest. Only then did she turn and open the door.
Tristan clearly hadn’t expected her to open the door so suddenly. His gaze was still full of
worry.
The moment he saw her, his eyes softened. He was about to speak when she beat him to it.
“Mr. Hale,” she said.
His heart sank.
That hurt more than her anger ever could.
